The Love Language started as a project of catharsis, and became a band in the process. McLamb's first recordings were solo tracks intended to help McLamb get his bearings following some failed relationships and ensuing reckless behavior. Those initial tracks informed his 2009 debut, The Love Language . Spurred to move forward with his life, he assembled a group to record his second album, Libraries, in 2010 on Merge Records. The Wilmington native will play SpazzFest solo on Saturday evening. His heartfelt, powerful lyrics blast out of his mouth with conviction and soul. [...]

The Harding Street Assembly Lab Joanna & Nathan McGlothlin are mostly known for their creations in the world of arts and crafts, but expanding into music for 2010. Based in Lynchburg, Virginia, Joanna and Nathan began to notice that there was a lot of quality music in Virginia going unnoticed. First, I love the band name. The versatility of trying to decide if The Late Virginia Summers is honoring a deceased woman or if they're indicating an attempt to capture the mood of September in the mid-Atlantic region. The colorful yet lamenting mood on "Golden Cypress" suggests both. The dangling threads of reverberated guitar notes, astronomical low end, and aquatic rhythm bring to mind Mogwai circa Rock Action and more ambient Do Make Say Think.
