London, England "No Memories, No Plans (Clause Four Remix)" The Leaf Library on Facebook The Leaf Library on The Hype Machine

The consistently unpredictable Jens Lekman has announced a one-off performance at one of London's more interesting (and worthwhile) festivals. Read & Shout, held in the lovely Nettlefold Hall above West Norwood Library, is a benefit concert organised to raise awareness of the widespread closure of libraries, both here in London, and across the Nation. Taking place on March 19, Lekman will perform alongside Darren Hayman , Leaf Library , Horowitz , A Fine Day For Sailing , A Little Orchestra , The Sweet Nothings , The Give-It Ups , [...]

The Leaf Library is a minimalistic indie band from London that have been working on their upcoming album " Different Activities, Similar Diversions" since the day of the band inception back in 2006 since then, after adding a few member the band is getting ready to release this Jewel in March 21st of this year. Today of course I received a track to attract you interest, this track is called " No Memories, No Plans" and it demonstrates exactly how this band is. The Leaf Library - No Memories, No Plans [...]
I love The Leaf Library (see my first post about them here ), and I also love that they have found their way to my favourite site for bands, Bandcamp . From there, you can download two free releases from the band, their single "Losing Places", which also features a brilliant remix from Isan + their BEKO single that was released on BEKO DSL earlier this year. 4 good songs to please your ears with! The Leaf Library will be playing in London next Tuesday 13th July on Buffalo Bar [...]

The Leaf Library is one of my favourite new bands, and I can't get enough of their music these days. Their guitarist and founder, Matt Ashton , used to play in another favourite of mine, Saloon . Even today, I get goosebumps when I hear the songs from Saloon's brilliant "(this is) what we call progress" or "if we met the future" , - really good songs. Saloon has also given life to two other very good bands: Adam "Arthur" Cresswell started the electro-pop duo Arthur and Martha , and Alison [...]

Well in all the chatter about the Beeb this week I was strongly considering ignoring it completely in this podcast and giving everyone a welcome break from the wailing and gnashing of teeth... but naah, that was never going to happen, was it. So there's a lot of railing against the Beeb and the threat to 6Music and yaddah yaddah you know the script don't you. Sadly, and somewhat ironically, we spend so much time talking about the state of the Beeb and the loss their support of small bands will represent, that we actually forgot to talk [...]

The Leaf Library 'New Year' Free MP3 download from Soundcloud | Myspace | Direct download The Leaf Library started out in Reading in 2004 after the demise of guitarist Matt Ashton's previous band, Peel-favourites Saloon . After a move to London, he and vocalist/keyboardist Kate Gibson were joined by bass player Jona and guitarist Ben Smith. With influences that include buildings, stationery and the weather; the band create minimal, melodic songs with a sound that sits comfortably between Stereolab's two chord drone rock and the stripped-down [...]
