As far as perfect albums go, I'd say 'It's A Shame About Ray' is up there with the best of them. In my humble opinion there isn't a bad moment on it. Not that it really gives you the chance to spot them if there were. With 13 songs rushed through in just 33 minutes long, it doesn't really have time to put a foot wrong. My sister introduced me to the most amazing alternative bands in the late '80s/early '90s including Buffalo Tom, Juliana Hatfield, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Cure, R.E.M. & The Lemonheads. I couldn't get enough of It's a Shame About Ray when it was released in 1992. It wasn't only the title track either. Songs like "Confetti, My Drug Buddy and Rudderless" (even the much reviled cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "Mrs Robinson") made this record a must own back then.
