Another bonanza month. Another round up of the very best tracks we posted in March. Another selection of new tunes to get your teeth into too. So without further ado... Download White Denim – Drug mp3 (from D) First taste of rockers new album. Bodes well. Very well. Download The Everymen – Ballad Of Sarin mp3 (from Hello, Nice Evening. We Are The Everymen) Cocksure but not arrogant, intense without being overwhelming, and high on the sleaze factor as the shredded vocals of Sarin [...]

Here is a round-up from round the internet and in-box of some big tunes, covers and new stuff that should brighten up the weekend. We have big hitters White Denim , Glasvegas , and Fucked Up , visceral garage rock from the Mantles and Liminanas , swelling orchestral indie from Dengue Fever and the Windupdeads , new folk rock (watch out Mumfords ) from up and coming Son of Eagle , and covers of Joanna Newsom by Lawrence & Leigh and a gorgeously [...]

I hardly speak a lick of French (despite three years of it in High School) but in the past few years I've really taken to French language pop, be it the '60s classics or the new wave. Even hip hop. You don't need to understand the lyrics -- it just sounds good. (I still don't know what Michael Stipe, Mark E Smith or Elizabeth Frazer were singing in the '80s.( Anyway, I listened to a lot of Francophone artists this year. Here's nine I especially liked. [...]

Looking at the lists from the indie cognoscenti this year my eyes tend to get heavy and it becomes hard to stay awake. I'm beginning to see why my grandfather wasn't able to stay awake when he watched the Dukes of Hazzard with me when I was a kid. I'm not quite to that point yet, as I was able to keep myself lucid long enough to compile my top 25 albums of the year. Have at it. 1. Eddy [...]

We've made to the fat on top, or the fruit at the bottom, in other words the top ten…I bought way too many seven inch singles this year. I'm not trying to brag. It's a problem really. The seven inch is like crack to the record geek, a fleeting moment of pop perfection and then it's off to either flip the record or put on another one. This was a daunting task this year and I feel like I left out a lot of stuff, but a top 60 would have been too much and limiting it to 40 makes [...]
Francophiles, check your jones and satisfy your sweet tooth with French duo the Limiñanas. Something like Françoise Hardy and Jacques Dutronc in a garage, the group's self-titled debut is out now via Chicago's Trouble In Mind Records. Head over to Rollo & Grady for another track. Watching a show the other night, I got this incredible idea (only incredible to me I'm sure) that all bands should bring artists from across the world on tour, exposing us all to new genres, styles, etc. So, today I've been searching for something that would meet my fancy, and I came across the French group The Liminanas . They use a bit of sampling, a lot of spoken word, and a lot of common psychedelia, all of which leads to some tunes that have been blasting on my playlist all day long. You'd be [...]

T'as fumé Guy Moquette ? Non, je ne suis pas très drogue. En tout cas, pas entre les repas. The Limiñanas Je ne suis pas très drogue (2010) Deux perpignanais signé à Chicago par le label Trouble in Mind . T'as fumé ? Non non, c'est vrai.

les bellas started out with an expected release of their debut lp, belladelic , three years ago in perpignan, france. the record label that promised to released the record went back on its word and unfortunately it never happened. since then, the group has disbanded and moved on to other projects, most notably the liminanas who have been featured on here previously and are currently getting very regular spins. two french labels ( SDZ and Les Disques Steak ) have pulled belladelic [...]

If you didn't know any better you might think that Trouble in Mind dug up a long lost 602s record from some dusty Parisian attic. the Limiñanas debut album is Jacques Dutronc , Velvet Underground and Françoise Hardy rolled up into a single slab of wax. You literally throw this record on and you feel like you're doin' the time warp en français. It conjures such an authentic 602s vibe that I bet they have bands lining up to record with them to get that sound. After two top [...]

So here we are again. A round-up of our favourite posted tracks from September, all beautifully compiled and presented for you to put on one lovely mix. And as always, a couple of new tracks for you too. Enjoy. Hailing from the South of France, The Limiñanas make wonderfully arranged music that is such a joy to listen to. Timeless pop music that stretches beyond the annals of time, incorporating all generations of musical styles together to form very complete sounding record. The self-titled LP will be the follow up to the singles released for labels Hozac and Trouble In Mind . The record will be the first full length release for Chicago's Trouble In Mind with a October 12th release date. [...]

unmistakably french, the liminanas blend stereolab, serge gainsbourg, and the velvet underground into their 2010 version of a garage/warehouse lounge sound. they had 2 singles out in april of this year that are available on trouble in mind records and hozac records. their self-titled debut lp is expected in october on the trouble in mind label. i can't pick which of the two tracks below i like better. i'm dead je ne suis pas tres [...]
French duo The Limiñanas elegantly mine the past with their Gainsbourg-inflected garage pop that feels stuck timelessly between decades. Draped in a disaffected cool that's often hard to come by without looking too stylized; the band weaves between backdrop fuzz pop with spoken word toppings to jangled and gelled dark French pop that hits all the right notes. Nothing here quite touches the hip-check cool of their single "I'm Dead" but a few come mighty close and make for that great kind of album that stops first time listeners in their tracks to inquire its source. Its hard to make [...]

Not the most visually pleasing album cover, I know. But the Liminanas bring a light, French flavor to the sound of 1960s garage rock. It's got a humble Velvet Underground recording style to it, too. It's the kind of music that causes uncontrollable fantasies of starting a band. "Je Ne Suis Pas Tres Drogue" is from the Liminanas self-titled debut, which is due for an October release via Trouble In Mind Records . MP3: The Liminanas- Je Ne Suis Pas Tres Drogue [...]
