theSTART at The Bottom of the Hill We're switching things up here at Kata Rokkar . No more long lists of Bay Area live shows on the Sunday post. It's gotten tedious and time consuming and frankly I don't think anyone really reads the whole thing. What will be happening is a separate calender page opening in the next few days. I'll be posting the best of the Bay Area shows there from now on. This post will be dedicated to highlighting what's good this week and reviews of any shows I may have attended. [...]

(Picture by Alexandra Cameron Photography ) Its shaping up to be a good weekend. With the snow melting away here out East and the weather warming up as we draw closer and closer to SXSW , it seems there's nothing better than a playlist from us to you. The list below contains many groups we're quite excited about, and some that are teetering on the realm of just barely getting their name out there. Among the list below is one of MUFs recent favorites, [...]

Are you enjoying Noise Pop Festival ? Well if you live out here in Bay Area you should or a least should have. You see, Noise Pop wraps up today with No Age at the Bottom of the Hill and Les Savy Fav and The Mae Shi at the Mezzanine. I unfortunately have been missing out due to a extremely busy work schedule. But what I've been hearing from The Bay Bridged , ipickmynose and Hippies are Dead , it's been going very well. The rest of this [...]
Limousines frontman Eric Victorino shares his top 9 of 2008 with Kata Rokkar ... MGMT - Oracular Spectacular Santogold - Santogold The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing The [...]

This track was featured by Jaymo and Andy George on their Radio 1 spot (a show I haven't been able to get a hold of and am dying to because of the Jack Beats mix) and I was extremely impressed. As soon as you hear the signature BB claps, you know its a true stormer. I am really excited to see that the Bloody Beetroots have gotten back into their groove with this one. This link is not to an MP3, but a website called Giant Step that offers a very high quality preview of the tune, as [...]
Coachella is happening as you read this and every other music blog is doing some sort of craziness to bring you the best of their line-up. But not me! I'm not going so I could careless (I will be watching dredg 's and Portishead 's broadcasted performance on the Coachella website though). But I know someone who is going, ex- Strata / Limousines lead singer Eric Victorino ! Eric and his band mates recently had the privilege to open for dredg at the Great American Music Hall [...]
Former Strata lead vocalist, Eric Victorino , will be releasing his new book entitled Trading Shadows For Sunshine this summer of 2008. As Eric himself describes; it's " acknowledging all of the terrible things about our world but never losing sight of what makes us extraordinary creatures. " His previous book, Coma Therapy , was a humble and hopeful account of a young man encountering everyday life written through poems and short stories. You can pre-order his new book by clicking on the picture or you can order Coma Therapy by [...]

I bought this album thinking that the band was a folk band who had done a track called 'Lighthouse' or something. A funky acoustic track I had heard a while back. But it wasn't. Both bands, called Limousine, only made one album, called Limousine. But I got the group from Rotterdam that started out in 1975 by Okkie Huysdens (ex-Heart), Ton op 't Hof (ex-Heart), Paul Vink (ex-Livin' Blues) and Mac Sell (Heart). At first I was totally disappointed and not at all interested in the 'Euro-funk' they were peddling. The record [...]
