A new William Basinski & Richard Chartier collaboration? Five years since their first (eight, arguably, if you date back to the original Spekk release)? Don't mind if I do... Written by Antonella Azzollini Okinawa Channel is the first single from Nzca/Lines (aka Micheal Lovett) forthcoming album Compass Points . Reminiscent of Hot Chip, the single mirrors the polished and elegant electronic trademark sound of the whole album. The video was directed by Robert Shelf and features Micheal and a oriental woman in a dreamlike dimension where natural objects become active. Perfect for listening to with a bottle of wine staring at the sea. Which is what I'm about to do... [...]

Said The Whale performed at The Mint on Friday night. Promoting their new EP, "New Brighton" out on Nov. 8, they played a lovely set of their new songs and really warmed up the crowd with their Canadian charm. Lead singer, Ben Worcester would do a little intro/background before each song and it was great insight to each song and performance. The drummer was so bad-ass and enthusiastic and each instrument sounded so good altogether. I wish their set was longer 'cause I was enjoying it all too well. [...]

Miss Ayah Marar (check last post HERE ) has returned and if you are a fan classic DnB; you must be excited. After her last outing with Yogi , there has been a pretty constant buzz about what she has on the way next. The answer harks back to her roots and involved her collaborating with DnB double headed duo Camo and Krooked . They are tipped to be the next breakout dance act, which you'll hear why. And, their approachable DnB styling are catchy and makes me want to hop [...]
Tweet All year I've been eagerly awaiting a new album from Said The Whale . On November 8th the " New Brighton EP " will finally come to fruition," Line " is the bands first release from the EP and shows the distance the band has grown since 20082s " Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia ." Tweet Since SGTMT discovered SBTRKT 's LP we've been digging around to listen to everything the man's produced. We'd missed this remix of Portico Quartet 's Line which makes us want to dance and is free to download below: There's also a 'More hang' mix, presumably featuring more of the Hang instrument used by the band. It's kind of like a metal drum, though describing it as a drum has apparently led to "a [...]

Lines
Said The Whale is one of those bands that I never really got until I saw them live. I enjoyed the breezy melodies of Islands Disappear well enough, but I was never properly wowed by them until I caught them on stage, stomping and clapping and generating a huge, near-tangible energy. This was clearly a group that thrived in a live setting, valuing every moment they had performing wholly and honestly. So it should be no surprise that all that the band learned while on the road translated directly into the feel of their latest EP, [...]

The Art of Standing In Line
I'm not a shopper. I can't stand indecision. Shopping for clothes for me goes like this... does it look good? Yes! Buy 2 in different colors. Leave, and hopefully never come back. It's not a process I enjoy, unless I am shopping for music. So my food shopping experience is done late night for the reason of swiftness. I'm sure you can understand this. This evening, I went to my local weenie mart for provisions. It took me about 5 minutes to select the food and beverages I needed and I went to check [...]
THE LINES
This is a band that truly means alot to me. A (surprisingly) relatively unknown dubby post-punk band from the UK; The Lines. Falling somewhere between the minimalist funk of A Certain Ratio, the angular Spartan punk of Wire or early Cure, and the atmospheric art rock of fellow coulda-beens the Sound, the Lines existed between 1978 and 1983, releasing five singles, one EP, and two LPs. The group apparently never toured and, more obviously, never took off, disappearing off the grid to all but the most avid collectors. But when those singles and EPs were compiled last year as [...]
