Damnit, these guys can craft a song. The second I heard "We Sing In Time" by The Lonely Forest I was hooked. It has been a while since I have been so immediately attracted to a song. I blame it on Braydn Krueger, the band's drummer. His quick tempos and and consistent fills don't provide the listener the chance to turn away. The Lonely Forest are releasing a new full-length on April 21st, 2009 titled: "The Body Electric". You can sample the album here . I really hope a single as good as "We Sing In Time" [...]
Pop/Rock - Promising Washington State trio-turned-quartet The Lonely Forest , led by frontman and songwriter John Van Deusen, return April 21 with an impressive second album of angular, occasionally muscular and expansive pop songs backed with a solid rock punch. The jittery rhythms of XTC and even the propelled drum/guitar interplay and reverb vocals of early Who recordings (particularly on the hair-raising wallop of lead track "We Sing Together") surface over the course of the dynamic aural tapestry of We Sing The Body Electric . "The Lonely Forest plays indie-pop music," asserts the band in [...]
Damien Jurado plays the Round at Bumbershoot 2009 Mentioned before on Sound on the Sound, the Round is a gathering of musicians and artists (word, paint and otherwise) from different backgrounds to get on stage, collaborate, meditate, amuse and maybe play a few of each others songs for an evening in the space of Seattle's Fremont Abbey. Just as an example of the typical pairings, the next edition happening April 14 gathers Jesy Fortino of Tiny Vipers , Grant Olsen of Arthur & Yu , John Van Deusen of about to break band [...]
"We Sing in Time" by the Lonely Forest Live at EMP for Folklife 2008 Right when I wasn't looking Burning Building Recordings released the first two Lonely Forest singles (two of 'em?!), from the upcoming full length We Sing The Body Electric on iTunes last week. Both "We Sing in Time," the song from which the album title comes from, as well as "Far Outer Banks" were released as singles, and this precedes the release of entire record on April 21. I feel like I've been anticipating this record for years now, so this [...]
Hey guys, sorry this is coming a few days late and is one of my only recent post. Yours truly picked up an honest to god day job, and thus my contributions to Sound on the Sound have been suffering/non-existent. I promise you, that this will change in November, now that I've gotten a bit of handle on the day-job and that best of/end of the year posts are right around the corner. Without further ado, I present to you the songs and albums that have kept me sane in this largely music-less month. * A [...]
