Betsy and Jon Heibler started the Sugar Stems in the fall of 2007 in Wisconsin with bassist Steph Swinney Conard and soon added Drew Fredrichsen on guitar. The band apparently issued a single and LP before releasing Can't Wait via Screaming Apple Records (Germany) and Dream On Records (Japan). Can't Wait is now seeing a North American release via Dirtnap Records. This is great energetic pop whose harmonies at times remind me of an excellent band of yesteryear, the Dance Hall Crashers. The melody and energy are infectious, a perfect jolt to stir up some positive [...]
With over 30 bands spread over 5 venues all day on the 9th of March, the Tenement Trail Festival organised by those lovely people at Tenement TV in Glasgow is an event mirroring EH1 in Edinburgh and with an equally as impressive list of gigs. With that in mind Ralph's intrepid roving reporter in Scotland Malcolm 'anorak' Parry set out to cover as many as possible by close of play. [...]
Wisconsin native Nick Luebke is back with a video for his newest release "End Of The Road." It's been nearly a year since the release of his biggest hit "Darty" and it's great to see him back with another solid track. The song is practically made for graduation ceremonies as the lyrics talk of friends and everlasting memories - and it all makes sense when you learn he's recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin. He now has to make the decision to pursue music full-time or settle for a big boy job. For our sake, hopefully he [...]
Sawyer L Gebauer has come a long way in the past year. From recording Brittsommar's first album Day of Living Velvet solo in an abandoned synagogue to working with artists and musicians from all over Europe and the US for the much anticipated second album to be released on April 4th 2013, predestined by the single "Tell Me" two days ago on February 20th. Many of the songs are stories of lost letters never found, written during travels through Midwest America, darkened cities of Germany, soft soils of Italy, closed ports of Denmark, and the Swedish country hills. [...]
Inserting a fresh DIY approach into the world of pop, Madison first burst onto the scene in 2011 with her debut EP The Noise Some People Make, which catapulted her into the playlists of those in-the-know. Madison's evolving sound is apparent in her new EP, We’ve Been Nothing. The infectious melodies are still there, but the guitars, backing vocals and overall soulfulness on each track take things to a new territory. It's multi-faceted, working as the backdrop for a late sexy night, a long drive with the windows down, or private dance affair for two. [...]
Madison has a new EP coming out on February 5 via her own G Records. We've Been Nothing is insanely catchy pop that dares you to try and stay seated. It's a dare you'll lose! I got hooked on her work with her 2011 release The Noise Some People Make , a stellar piece of work but, personally, I think We've Been Nothing has a tighter, smoother sound musically and the vocals are warmer and more soulful. [...]

In an age where music genres are wordier than the “Driver’s Handbook” at your local DMV, artists like DJ Shadow remind me why. After witnessing DJ Shadow’s performance at the Majestic Theatre in Madison, I pity the fool that tries to categorize his style (yes, that was a Mr. T reference). His set was a medley of drum n bass, trap, and heavy hip-hop instrumentals, all with a hint of edm. His versatility would have been apparent to a deaf man simply observing the crowd, which consisted of as diverse a group of characters as I have seen [...]
Maison Kitsuné New York Up-to-date Pictures!
As Maison Kitsuné New York will soon blow the candles of its first anniversary, pictures of the store have been given a photogenic facelift! Especially, our dearest Parisian yet New York based photographer Clément Pascal shot this forward-thinking and lively space. Located in the highly anticipated NoMad hotel, at Broadway and 28th, its locale of 1.000 sq. foot is [...]

The Madison & Vadim Dvihay – Silence Is Too Much (Original Mix)
I pressed play, closed my eyes, and instantly was floating above the clouds while listening to The Madison & Vadim Dvihay - Silence Is Too Much (Original Mix). Another 4 am stadium banger released by Will Hollands Enhanced Progressive/Enhanced Recordings. As the heart pounding bass line and vocals kick in you can't do anything but begin to dance. All of a sudden the world seems to stop when the melody of the piano kicks and her voice begins to bring you on a ride through the clouds. Finally the beat drops and the tears come to the eyes of every listener while bringing your ears through pure bliss. You can expect [...]
