As the years pass Metronomy has gotten more quirky and more pop accessible at the same time. Radio Ladio exemplified that. A recent remix has gotten a lot of blog shuffle but i like it so allow me to join the party. Mae Shi up-quirked the quirk quotient on this already quirky song with some additional tweaking and vaguely 2007-era child chorus backs. It's also drifted a bit toward the nintendo game sountrack genre. Anyhow, altogether hoppy and fun. I still generally dig Metronomy but i'm not sure [...]

Day 2 in Austin for me was March 18, 2009, which was the first official day of SXSW. After much determination that I wouldn't make my daily plans around bands I already like, I went to see Drink Up Buttercup's 2PM set at Beauty Bar anyway. Pretty & Nice were playing when I got there. Farzad Houshiarnejad of Drink Up Buttercup was found taking a nap. [...]

Yesterday, we took a magic bus in the sky down to Austin, TX, trading in the still-sleeping skyline of NYC for the thick haze of barbecue and band sweat in the Texas sun. Yee haw! The plan was to divide and conquer as many of Wednesday's live music options as we could possibly manage, to cast a wide net and take in some established favorites while exploring even more new acts in the process. While you can expect a full and thorough rundown of all things SXSW next week, the following is a photo recap of all the madness and [...]
The Mae Shi have just begun to rock Austin, Texas. Follow them on Twitter for the latest on where to find them.

I remember talking to Metronomy , like at least a year ago, and suggesting we do an interview. I think the problem was initially getting through the PR people, and then finally an interview was agreed to... ...and I never wrote it. See, sometimes balancing being a marketing worker bee/husband doesn't balance so well with being a blogger. I don't make shit doing this so... sometimes those interviews get put in the background so that your life doesn't fall apart lol... In lieu of somethign 'meatier' (i.e. an interview) I've got [...]
The 2009 SXSW music festival officially kicks off today, and Uncensored Interview is in Austin to enjoy all the briskets, booze and bands we can physically handle. We've interviewed hundreds upons hundreds of artists, and we shed a little tear of joy to see so many of them playing SXSW this year. You never know who is in the crowd in Austin, and it could make a world of difference for the performing bands. Here are a few artists we're particularly proud of that are reppin' down south this week. And be sure to check out our [...]

The Mae Shi dropped "R U Professional" barely 24 hours after Christian Bale's on-set tirade hit the internets. Now it has a quality video celebrating Bale's body of work to go along with it...

Disclaimer: I do not know Austin, and this schedule does not take into account the distance between locations. This is a fantasy, after all! If you are going to be there in person, obviously, you're going to have to make some painful choices and accept that you can't see everyone because there are unavoidable conflicts. I think it's a good idea to know what your alternatives are at any given time so you can be flexible. Watch the beginning and ending times on the schedule because some stage times are short. Many bands are scheduled several [...]
If you are an avid concert goer in the Bay Area, the above picture should be familiar. This my friends, is the Mezzanine ; a hot spot for the latest in hip-hop, dance and electronic music. Now every once in a while an epic act will swing by the Mezzanine and completely knock the socks off anyone who dares to attend the show. This week however, is a probably going to be one of the busiest weeks in the venue's history. You have Simian Mobile Disco playing tonight, MSTRKRFT on Thursday, [...]

I am so unbelievably bummed that I cannot attend Mouse's big 27th bday bash at pehrspace TONIGHT. I will be here working instead . Sigh. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go. Starts at 9pm. The secret surprise guest? I think it's no secret at this point that it's The Mae Shi . ZOMG!THERE'S FREE CAKE TOO!

Mining 2009.sxsw.com, Vol. 9 Next up on out little continuing series of SXSW -related mp3s is The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart who are playing all over place during SXSW (not as much as The Mae Shi , but hey... they set a pretty high bar). I've said it before, TPOBPAH sound like an amalgamation of a bunch of late 80's-early 90's college rock, but at the same time they does NOT sound dated. We first heard about them last year in The L Magazine's 8 NYC Bands [...]

I heard last night that Golden Triangle had to cancel one of their ten SXSW shows , which would make Cut Off Your Hands the winner of our little competition , but wait... Also in the same breath I found out that The Mae Shi are slated to play FOURTEEN shows. All of them are listed below if you don't believe me. Apparently, they also have two DJ gig scheduled (not listed). But, damn, let's see if any bands can top that! The Mae Shi at SXSW: [...]
