As a part of the rally, apparently local favs the Maldives will be keeping the crowd entertained prior to Biden's appearance at 2pm. As these things go I expect there to be loads of local politicians speaking in addition to [...]

I had a buddy at school that was pretty nuts. He'd routinely go on 24+ hour benders, smoked so many cigarettes that his jaundiced fingers looked like a picture out of a junior high health book, and would get drunk and repeat the word "seriously" to you over and over again while trying to form a sentence. But the kicker was the way he used to let us know he was coming to visit Chicago. You'd always get an email the day of his visit saying, "I'm coming to Chicago. Look for me." Classic. No specifics. No request to stay [...]

The Maldives made this photographer and fan very happy when the first three songs they played - the three photographers are allowed to be up close and photograph - were my absolute favorites. To a packed house the band opened with "Goodbye," "The Time is Right Now," and "Cold November Rain." I was so blissed out and too busy singing along, that I didn't snap any good Maldives photos - luckily Josh did. [...]

Jesse Sykes ::: Photos by Josh Yesterday evening was a glorious time to lay out on the lawn and enjoy some of the best Seattle music has to offer. You can do it again tonight with Rocky Votolato or next weekend with some other great bands. Starting today and going for the next two weekends prior to Bumbershoot, KEXP is sponsoring what they are calling KEXP Concerts at the Mural , featuring some great local acts playing at Seattle Center's Mural Amphitheatre on Friday and Saturday evenings. In our humble opinion the first night is the most exciting, featuring some local Americana all-stars in both Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter and the Maldives . The bands will be gracing the stage between 6pm and 8pm, with a KEXP DJ to warm things up in the hour leading up to 6, which this [...]

It was a bit of a long week at Sound on the Sound headquarters, so we are glad that Thursday's work is done and all we have between ourselves and Friday is tonight's drinking. We're also super excited, as well as facing a large dilemma, because there are a ton of great shows going on around town tomorrow. I myself, will be trying to figure out how to split myself in little pieces and attend all of them. Tell me you don't need banjo on your friday ::: photo by Josh [...]
