, Christian Eric Beaulieu, y el bajista Mike Watt (The Stooges, fIREHOSE, Minutemen). Los tres han decidido unir fuerzas en lo [...]

The frantic, guitar-driven, & intense band The Mars Volta are ready to release their sixth studio album, Noctourniquet . I remember when their first album came out thinking these guys are incredible and couldn't believe how they really had no fans. Well times have changed and these guys are a big favorite in the rock scene. This album also happens to be the bands first since 2009, but the wait for new tunes wasn't too long. The record features 13 tracks and will be released next week on March 26th. Luckily for us, [...]

Last year, the guitarist of acid punk band Triclops!, one Christian Eric Beaulieu, pulled together a thoroughly impressive super group of musicians to form Anywhere . Rounded out by Cedric Bixler-Zavala (The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In) on vocals/drums, legendary punk bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE), and guest vocalist Rachel Fannan (ex-Sleepy Sun), Anywhere released two limited 7" singles which sold out with haste. Now, the group is set to release their self-titled debut full-length on May 14th via ATP Recordings. Beaulieu, under the solo moniker Liquid Indian, was experimenting with acoustic Indian raga music when he [...]

While a significant amount of press has been focused on the surprise reunion of At the Drive-In , two members of that band continue to work on promoting their own new album as The Mars Volta . Guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala have been answering fan-submitted questions in a series of YouTube videos as they gear up for the release of Noctourniquet on March 27, 2012 .
The Mars Volta has released another new song from its upcoming LP. With the tracks released so far, this one included, they seem to have found a new focus, and that focus seems is far less self-indulgent. There is something immediately accessible about this song, but it still maintains the progressive and experimental edge that The Mars Volta is known for. The vocals keep their emotion, but this time around the lyrics are at least somewhat decipherable. Musically, they do a fantastic job of building with steady, kick-heavy drumming and bright synthesizers. It builds wonderfully into the chorus where the [...]
The Mars Volta: Official THE MARS VOLTA. Need I say anything more?? This eclectic fusion is coming out with another set of mind-bending, gravity-defying, third-eye-opening tunes that will very likely one of THE BEST album experiences for 2012 judging by the eccentric energy of this promo video. The new album 'Noctourniquet' hits stores on March 27. Check out the first single 'The Malkin Jewel' below and Pre-Order packages of Noctourniquet... In the end, robots will rule the world. It's all because of the impending technological singularity. Basically it works like this: artificial intelligence is growing in sophistication at an exponential rate. Once it takes over what the human brain is capable of then all bets are off. And that shouldn't be too long away now. Computers will accelerate away beyond our understanding and do things we don't get as they become the chief agents of their own development. It'll be like the film I, Robot but without Will Smith. Or robots. What's this got to do with [...]
New music here, new music there, new music everywhere! By now you've probably read my headline and you know where this is going, so let's get right to it: The Atlas Moth - whose 2011 record An Ache For the Distance was my absolute most favoritest album of the year - have followed up their [...]
