The Middle East - Pig Food Three meals that were eaten at least once a week, throughout the year after I discovered that they existed, as I desired to sit bloated and content in the sun, slowly recovering from a hangover. 3. The BLT - with a smudge of avocado - sandwich on Turkish bread from Newscaf , Newtown. Mammoth and messy, it smears green and drips red. Swine strips on your tongue. Terrible for [...]

Allegedly, Janet Jackson is engaged to her billionaire Qatari boyfriend Wissam Al Mana. Wedding plans are in the air. As many of you know, Janet Jackson has been dating a guy from Qatar who is totally in love with her. We had the chance to meet him back in her London tour date and he was so nice and cordial. Let's hope Janet moves to this side of the world so we can hang. Related articles [...]

Filed under: News , Holy Hell Gino DePinto, AOL When professional party animal Andrew W.K. recently announced that he had been invited by the U.S. Department of State to travel to Bahrain as a cultural ambassador , most of us were like, "Whaaa?" Don't get us wrong. The guy is unparalleled at promoting feelgood values, and camaraderie. But the dirty-shirted New Yorker has since been " uninvited " from his upcoming trip [...]

Local illustrator Good Sniff has gone to the liberty of sketching more than 300 individual faces belonging to 106 Brisbane bands. "It got to a point about midyear where I’d be scooting around in the Valley and I’d recognise people because I’d drawn their faces. Which is creepy". He describes it as "character design exercise that got waaaay out of hand". Do take a closer peek at this - it's scarily accurate, even if nearly everyone here looks a little seedy. My favourites are Violent Soho looking like [...]

STILL ROCKING OUT ON THE ROAD - Chicago's Filligar are one of the few young acts on our Best of Live Acts list ( editor's note : the 2012 Live List is coming) and it's with good reason. This fearless foursome have already accomplished more than most ever will and they are clearly still on the ascent. It was their ability to rise to the occassion that won them a spot on this summer's Outlaw Roadshow tour with Counting Crows, Good Old War and Foreign Fields . Kylie Minogue is going to do it again. She is coming back to the UAE, but this time it's Abu Dhabi to play the F1 concert (along with Nickelback, but we are not going to quip about it) Yes, the diva, whose career had just turned 25, will grace the Middle East yet again. However, just like last year's Britney Spears debacle, tickets will probably only be available to people who are attending the sporting event. We have a hard time believing that anyone interesting in the race would be loving the idea of Kylie performing. At any rate, let's [...]
The Middle East - Blood Summer is a strangely slow time for tuneage–we tend to go back to the classics, to old favorites, rather than digging our fingers into the new music that’s out. I like this song. I like that it is three years old and from a band that disbanded too early. I’m a strange sentimentalist. Also, considering the song came out in 2009, it should have gotten more attention considering how perfectly indie it sounds. They opened for Grizzly Bear that year. I also like that there [...]
