At some point, pretty much every American punk band has to cover the Misfits. It's practically a requirement. My own high school band only played two shows, but we still found time to put together a "Last Caress" cover. And we might've also done "Teenagers From Mars" too? I forget. Anyway, Wavves have just gone through that particular rite of passage. Nathan Williams posted a lo-fi, clappy rendition of " Hybrid Moments " on his Twitter "as a tribute to the band," and you can download it below. Read More...
As he's done so in the past , Wavves frontman Nathan Williams recently took to Twitter to deliver an homage to one of his punk idols. This time around, Williams dialed back the time machine to rework The Misfits' "Hybrid Moments". The end result sounds distinctly like old school Wavves, with a simple structure and loads of feedback and distortion. It's perhaps not as hard-hitting as the original, but Williams' stoner touch makes this worth a spin or two. Check it out below. Wavves - "Hybrid Moments" (Misfits cover) [...]

Nathan Williams dishes out a cover of an old Static Age track.

Wavves - Hybrid Moments [Misfits] | zs watch the original
Last year I mentioned Misfits, the awesome British series about five young delinquents who mysteriously acquire superpowers.

A great feeling of inferiority after being directed to Bobbylondon 's Hamburger Eyes podcasts was part of what delayed a December Hearsay mix. The other part was the need to spend the few non-working hours I had with procrastinations that are even less productive than the time that I spend putting together mixes for this site. There has been so little released this year that really caught me, it kinda follows that I would put together this collection of 19 temporally thematic songs. In fact, I'm not sure that I can put together a "best [...]
The horror punk legend will hit the road in February....

Metallica recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with some special friends.
Bay Area Buddies Green Day cover the Misfits' 'Hybrid Moments' in honor of Metallica.

This year, Metallica turned 30 years old. They're old. Fellow Bay Area associates Green Day - who also have some years behind 'em - decided to pay homage to the heavy metal rockers by issuing a cover version of Misfits' "Hybrid Moments". Tucked away inside a hoodie, a bearded Billie Joe Armstrong offers his trademark snarl to the Misfits' anthem, and not surprisingly, it sounds just like a regular Green Day track. By the way, does anyone else dig Mr. Dirnt's long 'do? Choice cut, pal. Originally, this cover premiered as an Idiot Club exclusive a couple days [...]

The fans, the fans, the fans. It's who all bands take the time to acknowledge. At concerts, artists will always shout out partially histrionic statements like, "We couldn't do this without you...the fans!" And as a result, every fan's devotion soars through the roof (if not eternally). It's somewhat silly, though, not to realize that the fans do make everything possible. People like bands, so they buy their records, see their shows, sometimes blog about them (hey there), "Like" their Facebook pages, live chat with them on Twitter, and on super-rare occasions, even get to meet them . It's [...]

You've probably already seen some video of this, but here's about a minute of video that I managed to get. Fun stuff.
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Holy Hell Jason Squires, WireImage Last weekend's Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas saw the likes of Slayer , Spoon and Passion Pit tearing up the Southern air with several shades of rock and metal. But fellow headliner and former Misfits frontman Glenn Danzig gave one of the festival's most memorable and dour performances, fraught with fast-food [...]
Ah, leave it to Glenn Danzig to keep things interesting. Whether he's making news shopping for kitty litter or preparing for an apparently large-scale home improvement project, in Glenn's world things just never go as simply as they're meant to. To wit, at Friday's opening night of Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin - a ...
