Australia's been on a hot streak of talent export as of late. Its newest product - house producer Light Year and his track "Moderation" - is no exception. Initially released on the famous Bang Gang 123, "Moderation" is a brooding track with an incredible bassline and dirty synths. The whole dF office has been infatuated with this one for the past couple of months, but our obsession hit a new level upon watching the video. It's a weird one, but the VHS rave footage fits just nicely with the track. If you like what you see/hear, [...]
Light Year is a house producer from Australia who has been supported by everyone from Soulwax to Surkin - funnily enough we've never heard of him - but when we heard 'Moderation,' he jump straight up our list of ones to watch. 'Moderation' is a proper nostalgic look back at deep and acid house - it's full of deep, strung-out organic basslines, cutting synths and a general less is more mentality. Facebook

Not a whole lot of info on this one as the page is in Japanese, but Wakui Works has some nice shots from 19602s Japan featuring Eames / Herman Miller furniture in it's natural habitat. Whenever I see shots like these I imagine the lucky people who found all this discarded in an alley somewhere around 1994. Wakui Works via Brian From Concentrate
Give Government Warning's "No Moderation" one listen, and you'd swear that the Richmond, VA released this gem during the height of the 80s 'Reagan era' of hardcore punk, not 2006. Their first official LP, "No Moderation" is one fuck of a ride.Just like true 80s hardcore releases, you're not going to find any bullshit: no polished sound, no overly complex riffs, just good ole' fashioned
A different way of doing things on this track, courtesy of the one and only Mr Vega, who's spent the last year getting the kind of treatment a young producer hopes for: plays on Radio One, Essential Mix inclusions, club dates, popular tracks on the charts of the Hype Machine and Beatport and more. But [...]
in case you don't frequent the ughh boards.. of which I still "moderate".

The Moderate 's one of my favorite bands from my time in DC and if you haven't heard their latest record The Rest Is Up To You , it's a great one to blast in the car or home stereo (the computer is not a stereo). Singer/guitarist Jim Dempsey can seriously light up his fretboard and is a real pleasure to watch live. Here are a few East cost tour dates: 02/06: Pianos (NYC) 02/18: Rock & Roll Hotel (DC) 02/19: The Southern (Charlottesville) 02/20: Clementine Cafe (Harrisonburg) 02/27: The Pour House Music Hall [...]

Everything youve ever heard that sez booze recks your brane is rong. The BBQ BBC rote an artickle that sez drinkin hooch is good for if you hert yr hed . Okay, seriously, the article included the line "Experts cautioned people should not interpret the findings as an excuse to drink more alcohol." Then again "should not" is not the same as "must not." Draw your own conclusions. I'm going to the fridge for a Bud. Related posts: The Booze Death [...]

DC-area rock group The Moderate recently released their first full-length album, The Rest Is Up To You . With influences spanning the likes of guitar pioneers Built To Spill to the rollicking and countrified sounds of southern rock, The Moderate are a young group oozing with talent and brimful of potential. Led by North Carolina singer and lead guitarist Jim Dempsey, the quartet favors strong narrative storytelling, sharp rhythms, and intricate guitar play complimented by the occasional but always welcome blow from Ian Burke's saxophone. Make sure to catch the band live as these songs are meant [...]

Party time. You've got Modeselekor (MDSLKTR) hanging in your kitchen, then APPARAT hanging in your bathroom - then whut, everyone is crazy drunk and making sexy time together. Yep, that's really how this shit goes down. No moderation of vodka consumption here my hampster loving friends. Moderate . Been meaning to post some of these wee beasts for some time - but time evaded. Amazing mixes, amazing tracks, awesome act. Need more. Live dates are on their myspace, so must catch them. Sonar Sonar Sonar Sonar Sonar. DO I GO. GO. [...]

Hi all, because of some odd circumstances, I need to take the unfortunate step of moderating comments - a move which doesn't suit my nature as I am not the censoring type. Please write whatever you like, still - even if it is in the unlikely event that you don't think my blog is the best thing since sliced pan ;) I would never block a comment here without very good reason indeed, and vanity is not a good reason. You can try me out by telling me I smell like a diseased cat, look like a [...]

Please write whatever you like, still, even if it is in the unlikely event that you don't think my blog is the best thing since sliced pan ;). I would never block a comment here without very good reason indeed. You can try me out by telling me my writing is seven kinds of shite if you want. I'll hopefully take the moderation off at some point. See yis!
