I can't even begin to describe how much I detest the pseudo-proletarian crap that the over-hyped Lilly Allen wannabe Kate Nash subjected the unsuspecting public to when she released Foundations. Abbie Broom has recorded a cover of this song, however I find it impossible to hold this against her, as her own songs about regrets, family, and falling in love are crafted with a tenderness that allows me to see this cover not as a grave error, but more of a quirk. Like a mole you get used to, and eventually, love. Read more..

Hearing the new single from Cardinal takes me back to the 1990s and the early days of the Internet, when music geeks (ahem) trawled Prodigy newsgroups to find far-flung but like-minded friends and share new sounds. It was via a transatlantic mixtape — a handmade cassette — that I discovered a clamorous Australian psych-pop outfit named the Moles [ "Surf's Up," for you noise-pop kids looking for a cool song to cover]. The band was fronted by singer-songwriter Richard Davies , whom I would encounter a short time later, in 1994, when he teamed up with [...]

Breathe Owl Breathe - The Listeners (The Mole & The Ostrich) Since having a baby, I've been pondering the idea of playing my daughter 'children's music'. What is it that separates music for children from music for adults? Most of what I've heard so far sounds like nails-on-chalkboard, which, I'm sorry, Papa is NOT going to drive three hours in the car listening to that crap. I'm pretty sure she's gonna be fine with chillwave and freak folk, no? Luckily for me, there are happy mediums where some of my favorite indie artists are thinking [...]

The Mole is back after what seems like an age with a new EP, "Extended Hugs" on Fur Trade records . After his amazing debut "As High As The Sky" in 2008 producer Colin de la Plante has chosen his projects with care. His new work sees him hook up with his local Montreal label and produce a deep sound that has an infectious groove while retaining a quirky edge. Quality stuff!

Surely the track title of "24 Hour Party Sausage" will go down in history as one of the greats no?! Odd names like that really catch my attention... Anyways feast your old school ears on these tasty 90s rave tunes from Gary Todd getting a debut release on Illusion Recordings on October 24th. On remix duties we have The Mole and Death On The Balcony. ILL002 - Garry Todd - 24 Hour Party Sausage - Original Mix by illusionrecordings [...]
The Sequence - by Aaron Moles Want to learn how to make a badass web series like The Sequence? (Did you watch that vid yet? Isn't it badass?) This Tuesday, August 30th on Scriptcast: Matt and Script Doctor Eric are joined in the UCLA Radio studios by writer/director Aaron Moles to chat about what it takes to [...]

Things have been going very well for our good friends in Mole . MTV Desi called them the most interesting group in Pakistan , they were featured in one of the country's biggest music events , and have just finished their first night of Karachi Detour Rampage , a new platform they've created for Karachi's emerging electronic artists. I'm pretty in awe of all their accomplishments, especially given the current state of affairs in that region, so give them a holler on YouTube or Facebook if [...]
Interesting document has turned up online from someone claiming to be an employee of Sony , telling an interesting tale about Ronan Parke. Parke is a contestant on the current Britain's Got Talent. According to this account, he's also the preselected winner. And has been signed to Syco for two years, during which time he's been groomed (yes, like that) for a brief crack at the preteen market. It has to be remembered that this is an anonymous account, and by its nature a one-side-of-the-story. There are, presumably, enough people who have been disadvantaged, disgusted [...]
Although they've been relatively quiet for the past months, Th' Mole, DJ 0.000001 and the Magical Bass gang are in full swing again. After last week's European tour documentary, Th' Mole also dropped a ridiculous Easter-themed instrumental video... And this week, DJ 0.000001 has got a new remix and music video for, of all things, a Kenny Loggins song. Kenny Loggins - This Is It (DJ 0.000001 Remix) by magicalbass [...]
Last month Th' Mole, Foxdye & DJ 0.000001 toured Europe. Here's a little look from behind the scenes...
Liking the little mugshots there. Jakes looking serious, Gatekeeper looking like he's in the middle of DJing, me looking out of the window at a squirrel or something. Anyway, if you're in the southwest, get yourself over to this, sharpish! I'll be on at 1 til 2. Mighty. ===== i.d. Permalink | Leave a comment »

Mole kicked off 2k11 by releasing Visiting EP I , their second release on their own Mooshy Moo imprint. The EP is a departure from the beats we've been hearing on their soundcloud all Fall, with the collective returning to more guitar-driven structures from their first release. You can download your own copy for free here . Mole - One Up Mole - You Will Be Something

I don't know how Mole 's production quality has jumped within the last few weeks, but these guys are up to some serious stuff. I've recently been informed that they're in the process of mastering their upcoming EP, so stay tuned for more details. Mole - Molecular Motion Mole - Nfshit

Mole have outdone themselves yet again. A lot of their members are holed up in Boston for the time being, and you need to keep your eyes on their soundcloud . You can catch Smax doing a rare live set in VT this Friday. I'll post additional show information in the comment section below. Mole - 00012 Mole - I Need You

Mole has been throwing beats on their soundcloud almost every day for the last two weeks, and Guidestones is another favorite from their collection. These guys are some of the most refreshing beatmakers out there right now. We still haven't heard anything about a proper release, so you'll just have to stick with their soundcloud for the time being. Guidestones by Mole [...]

Mole is a collective of beatmakers based in Karachi, Pakistan whose members include D.I.D. favorites Granneh , Smax , and Faizan . They spent the summer recording at a studio they built in their city, and are just starting to throw the first pieces up on their soundcloud . I Need You is my favorite beat from the bunch, highlighting a tremendous ability and potential from these up and coming producers. Stay tuned for more info on their next [...]

The Moles release their debut album 'The Future Sounds of Ashton' on See Monkey Do Monkey Recordings 1st November, 2010 These are dark days that we're living in. Discontent with the government, economy and religion fill the papers. Bigots are taking to the streets. Commercial pop music hits an all time low…meanwhile in a brightly painted bunker in Bristol, Brin Davies, Billy Fuller, Dan Chandler and Steve Dew are making music that goes way below the underground. The West Country, as you may know, [...]
