New Twang from Moondoggies

oggIt seems like forever ago that we first heard from Moondoggies , and after the release of their debut, they've been sort of quiet.  But, things are changing, as the group is readying Adios I'm a Ghost for Hardly Art .  It's definitely a swirling Americana influenced song, with guitars wrapping around the vocals almost from the get-go.  There's even a bit of a stomp, accentuated by a soloing guitar at the end of the track, highlighting the spirit and tenacity of the band. The Maldives’ “Muscle for the Wing” Record Release Show

The final night of City Arts Fest at the Barboza/Neumos complex highlighted some of Seattle's finest in local rock: Hobosexual and the Hounds to invite fist-pumping, "The Rolling Stones" to incite a scream-along, the Grizzled Mighty and My Goodness to incite the promise of morning whiplash. From second thirty of Davidson Hart Kingsbery's set, pairs [...]

Kevin Murphy (Moondoggies) City Arts Music Festival - Seattle WA

By Adam Richert Kevin Murphy (Lead singer of the Moondoggies) captivated the diverse congregation at the All Pilgrims Church in the Capital Hill neighborhood of Seattle through his raw and heartfelt songs. The Moondoggies front man played a casual set which felt as if you were watching a friend in a jam session at your house. This warm and inviting show allowed fans to experience his music on a more personable level.

[Indie] The Moondoggies – What Took So Long

Question is, what took us so damn long to find this piece of gold? Meet The Moondoggies . Comprised of four very humble guys making music since late 2009, this band will make you sway your hips like there is no tomorrow. When the track first starts off, you feel like you're in New Orleans walking down a street of hanging street lights and bars filled with drunken voices. Lead singer Kevin Murphy makes it sound so darn easy and no matter where you are in your life, you're able to connect to this lyrics. Just wait until the [...]

Slack Fest 2012: “Exactly how I want it to be”

Slack Fest closes with the Moondoggies ::: Photo by Josh Lovseth More. Faster. Harder. Coachella understands America's on a perpetual ADHD thrill ride and this week added another climb and dive on the roller-coaster by announcing a cruise to go along with their now two-weekend festival. By comparison, with just one stage situated on a [...]

Live Around Town This Week

Live Around Town This Week photo by Jason Bergman While the other side of the country faces a heat wave, the weather in Seattle is looking good this week, which is a great reason to go see some local shows! Tuesday features shows from the Detroit Cobras at Neumo's and a quadruple billing of Love Battery, Chix Pack, Speedwobble, and Lost Puppy at Fun House. If you're looking for a musical way to celebrate independence on Wednesday, spend July 4th by going to see the Family 4th show with Pickwick at Gasworks Park or attend [...]

Live Around Town This Week Ghostland Observatory will lazerize WaMu this weekend / photo by Christopher Nelson We've got another great week of shows in Seattle, with a ton of variety. On Tuesday, there's a psych fest at Neumos with  Black Moth Super Rainbow, Lumerians, and Pictorials . [...]

Karen Gwyer “No Moondoggies for 3 Weeks”.

Karen Gwyer “No Moondoggies for 3 Weeks”. Kaleidoscope is the still relatively new imprint founded by London beat mastermind Patten , a venture devoted to cassette offerings that come in preciously tiny editions (accompanied by unlimited, and moreover free, digital versions). After the initial release of the excellent Slime Code by Sculpture aka Dan Hayhurst and Reuben Sutherland (listen to two extracts here and here , and get the highly recommended whole piece here ) in February, which out came physically on seven unique C20 cassettes, the label has just announced its second publishing, a C30 by [...]

Fense’s Radio Show: April 20, 2012

Fense’s Radio Show: April 20, 2012 I didn't post at all on FensePost last week. That's crazy. I had been on a roll, pumping out posts on a daily basis, then I hit a wall and needed an immediate break. But my breaks are typically filled with, well, something else. They're aren't true breaks , in the informal-synonym-for-vacation sense of the word. That's right, it was pledge week at KSVR and KSVU. Being pledge week, I came in Wednesday night and sat in on Jackson Stewart's Blue Boulevard and we [...]
