As a child, I absolutely LOVED The Muppets movies. And as an adult, I may actually love them even more. It's hard to say, which movie is my favorite. I am a big fan of Muppet Treasure Island, although I am pretty sure that The Great Muppet Caper was probably the movie that got the most viewings from me as a kid. But the most recent addition to the series, The Muppets, starring Jason Segel and Amy Adams gives each of those films a run for their money. In many ways this movie was an homage to all of the [...]
Don't get Fox News started on the media. Those liberal hippies have been eschewing a smear campaign against the Grand Ol' Party for decades now. Any outlet outside Rupert Murdoch's [...]
The Muppets win at everything. That's all I have to say on the matter. In other news, Mrs. Toad and I went out into the garden this weekend, to try and tackle the small jungle which has slowly been developing since the Summer. The weather has been so spectacularly shit since July and August that we just haven't been out there, so our window boxes have all died and every bed was overrun with weeds. Still, due to our particularly indelicate methods of gardening - a little closer to slash and burn than anything you might [...]
Not too long ago, Fox News decided to epic trolling Muppet fans by suggesting Kermit and co. were actually a tool for teaching kids an "anti-capitalist," liberal agenda. Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Well, the Muppets were in England promoting their latest movie, when a reporter happened to ask Kermit and Miss Piggy about the incident. Kermit responded politely enough, but then Miss Piggy went all Miss Piggy on Fox News, with perhaps the greatest Fox News dig ever. And it is glorious. [via dangerousminds ]

Proof that no one is better than Flight of the Conchords (and in this case Bret McKenzie) at parodying genre from the inside, the incredibly hum-able, endlessly catchy, utterly hilarious and gorgeous "Man or Muppet" has been nominated for an Oscar. If this doesn't win, I'll be slightly less pissed than when Elliott Smith lost. (By the way, this is the ONLY reason to watch the Oscars)
Are you green with envy? After all, there's nothing wrong with being green. Muppet Mania is back! Finally, The Muppets have reemerged in the limelight thanks largely due to Jason Segel and his memorable sad rendition of "The Muppets Show Theme Song" in Forgetting Sarah Marshall . Due to the success of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Segel's passion about The Muppets, Disney approached Segel to revamp, resuscitate and revive an awesome franchise. Along with collaborator Nicholas Stoller, Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords) and director James Bobin, The Muppets have been brought back in great [...]

So apparently dreams do come true... Saturday night, 23 year old college student Chelsea Gill scored a dream date with her celebrity crush; How I Met Your Mother star Jason Segel . Chelsea never thought the song she wrote would get the attention of Segel, let alone lead to her joining Segel at an awards gala . To date, the video has gained more than 180,000 hits on YouTube, and Gill has gone from an unknown fan-girl, to being the envy of many young women everywhere. [...]
Top Ten Movie Soundtracks of 2011 Words : Drake Lelane Ok... I have to come clean. I did not see as many of these films as in the past five years of making this annual list. Since having kids, it's hard to get to the theater to see a film that isn't animated, but I make up for it by being choosy with I do see and then catching up by feasting upon award season screener DVDs in December. So even though I got to see what [...]

A long list of contenders up for nomination for the Best Song category at the upcoming Academy Awards in 2012 is doing the rounds, and while some of the tunes that have already been nominated for Golden Globes are present — "Hello Hello" by Elton John and Lady Gaga, "The Living Proof" by Mary J. Blige, "The Keeper" by Chris Cornell, etc. — it appears as if there was no love for Madonna's "Masterpiece" , from her directorial effort W.E. [...]

Dear My Morning Jacket: Let's be friends again. You're one of my favorite bands of all time. You're one of the—if not thee—best live bands in the world. Remember in 2003 when I saw you for the first time? I'd taken too many drugs and was confused why vikings were at Bonnaroo. Or in 2009, again at Bonnaroo, when you put on the best (and longest) show I've ever seen? But I need to be honest, Circuital wasn't a perfect record. In fact, it was kind of boring. I've seen you play countless times, own [...]

I am just getting to my computer today, after a 5 day break of ignoring the world. I just saw this past weeks Box Office results and 1. OUCH and 2. YUCK. That's all carry on. I can NOT be happier for The Muppets movie though. Love them!!! (This Weeks sales // Last Weeks Sales) 1. New Year's Eve ($13,019,180 // DEBUT) 2. The Sitter [...]
Running from 1976 to 1981, the original five-season, 120-episode run of The Muppet Show, as well as the 1979 feature-length film The Muppet Movie, left an indelible mark on the majority of the HT Staff with its mix of love-able characters, kitschy smart humor (much of it which went over our heads at the time) and celebrity guests appearances. So we couldn't have been more elated to learn that the franchise, which seemed to mostly disappear from the world of pop culture in recent years, was going to get the reboot treatment thanks to Jason Segel. The actor, has been very vocal [...]

So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band, a show preview, or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we'll just round 'em all up for you. Most of these videos are of artists we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won't be telling you much about the bands themselves, just some musings that really aren't worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a trillion. Do it! Words by [...]
