When it comes to Cincinnati music pioneers, there aren't very many in the class of Jim Tarbell . The former vice-mayor, city councilman, saloon keeper, and rock promoter has done his best to keep the music scene here in Cincinnati vibrant for decades. That's why this upcoming series at MOTR pub is pretty exciting. Have a look at the three events that have been planned. Sunday, May 20 ; 2 p.m. Jim will discuss and answer questions about the Uptown music scene including the Ludlow Garage, the Black Dome and more [...]

I stumbled across the band The Neighborhood this morning to great pleasure. The band is a Los Angeles based quintet that mixes together a perfect blend of soul, indie rock and hip-hop. Their debut EP, I'm Sorry , can be streamed below and downloaded for free here . This is the best thing you'll download all week so go ahead and pick up a coy for your mom for Mother's Day while you're at it.

Post- Lana Del Rey indie pop group from Los Angeles, The Neighborhood are on the precipice of becoming the next Foster The People , making their deliriously catchy "Sweater Weather" this year's "Pumped Up Kicks." It's an oddly titled, but undeniable big-by-summer jam. There's a lot of sub-par indie music and remixes out there, much of which somehow makes it into the upper reaches of the pop sphere. We're all frustrated by that, but hey! The public also used to like watching public executions. Just because it's not perfect doesn't mean it's not better. Still, it would be nice to hear some more of the undiscovered, solid indie pieces make it to mainstream radio. In the states, independent music rarely gets on the radio in the first place, but in the UK, BBC radio stations seem to be catching on to what works. [...]

Mysterious Cali band The Neighbourhood make possibly the least Golden State approved song ever. I mean that in the best possible way, though. You see with their single, "Sweater Weather", they take all the sunshine and glamour away, and put you in a morbid setting. A place where the birds don't chirp, and the roosters don't wake up. With their hypnotic pop and undeniably splendid melodies, romance is surprisingly found within two cigarette-burnt holes in your fuzzy sweater. Get on the bandwagon early with these fellow, cause the buzz is starting to boil quickly.

Veja [...]

This is a great short film and I encourage everyone to support it by sharing it with a friend. HERE COMES THE NEIGHBORHOOD is a Short-Form Docuseries exploring the power of Public Art to uplift and revitalize urban communities. The Pilot Season revolves around the district of Wynwood Miami, featuring an array of internationally acclaimed and locally respected Street Artists, Graffiti Writers and Muralists. Although we sometimes submit to minimalism and easy to wear colours, we cannot resist when won over by more elaborate pieces. Japanese designers have a history of absorbing American culture and reinterpreting it in pleasing forms and this is a great example. One of our favourite Japanese brands, Neighborhood, has done an excellent job with this eccentric t-shirt which features imagery inspired by Americana and Native American design. The t-shirt features a print in the style of a Sun Dance Poncho, providing us all with a unique piece to enjoy. Available at End Clothing .
