The REAL Pornographers I am sure that Canadian super-group The New Pornographers have a tough time coordinating schedules. That's the trouble with being ultra-productive and creative, I guess. Too many solo careers! Too many side projects! So when it comes to shooting a video for new material, why not pick a bunch of other celebrities who aren't actually in the band, but who also likely have insane schedules, and have them film a fake movie trailer for a made-up movie? (Complete with an additional fake promo for another fake movie?) Sure! Pure genius. [...]
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: The New Pornographers Video: 'Moves' Highlight: "I still can't believe all the people we got to turn out for this video," video director Tom Scharpling tells Spinner. "I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop on the whole thing, waiting for someone to say 'I have to leave town to do a movie so I can't shoot tomorrow.' But it never happened. Kevin Corrigan had to leave for the airport at 4AM the [...]
Um video ESPETACULAR! (Tal e qual o novo acordo ortográfico)

Dangerbird That The Dears never really realized the lofty expectations that accompanied them when they emerged out of Montreal at the turn of the century really isn't important. Nor is the fact that they turned out to be more foreshadowing of the great Canadian indie renaissance of the past decade rather than leaders of it, or that the drama surrounding the band and its endlessly changing roster often overshadowed their already-quite dramatic music. All that really matters is that they're still at it and their new record Degeneration Street [...]
I'm going to just say it, the New Pornographers have made the most clever and quite possibly the best music video you're going to see all year. The Canadian indie-pop collective , who in the past have made some pretty inventive videos, outdid themselves with the clip for Move. The video, whose storyline is an imaginary biopic of the band, features a who's who of indie-rockers, comedians and movie stars. See if you can spot them all... Click here to view the embedded video. [...]
A fictional biopic called Move: The Rise and Rise of The New Pornographers serves as the concept for The New Pornographers new music video which features a gaggle of North American actors and comedians. Full cast: Jon Wurster, Julie Klausner, Kevin Corrigan, Wyatt Cenac, Horatio Sanz, John Oliver, Ted Leo, John Hodgman, Bill Hader, Paul Rudd, Todd Barry, Donald Glover, Esther Crow, Michael Lisk.

There's a lot of bands to be seen at this year's South by Southwest, but the Austin-TX based extravaganza is also a film festivalm and its 2011 offering provides a few reasons to arrive early. Several music-related films have been added to this year's lineup, including Arcade Fire and Spike Jonze's 30-minute short film, Scenes from the Suburbs , and Joe Cornish's Attack the Block , which features original music from Basement Jaxx. The festival will also feature a trio of must-see documentaries. There's Diplo [...]

Songs with girls names in the title are just about as old as pop music itself, from "Peggy Sue" to "Layla" to "Jenny (867-5309)" to "For Emma, Forever Ago", artists have been written love songs addressed directly to that particular special someone. So to celebrate that tradition (and keeping in mind Valentine's Day is quickly approaching), this is a mix of some of my favorite girls-name-in-the-title songs. Since there's so many of these and I would have never been able to narrow it down otherwise, I stuck with only songs http://musicforants.com/blog/w p-admin/post-new.php where the title is the girls name and nothing [...]

The New Pornographers got a comedic makeover…literally. In the new video for "Moves," directed by Tom Scharpling, best known for his work on WFMU's "The Best Show" and USA's "Monk," we see a graphic reenactment of the New Pornographer's rise to fame – it goes without saying, but it's hilarious. The band approached Scharpling, as adoring fans, to direct their new video asking that he feature the band more – a different approach from their past music videos. However, when scheduling conflicts prevented the band from shooting, Scharpling came up with the next best thing. He asked [...]
Comic actors Paul Rudd , Bill Hadar and Kevin Corrigan (and unless I'm mistaken Mr John Oliver too) star in the Canadian indie super-ensemble's video for 'Moves' It's like MTV Cribs-meets-spinal tap in an elaborate short tale of a band debauchery and the backlash and is typical group vocal fayre. The single is take from their 5th album Together.

Yesterday there was a lot of Twitter activity following The New Pornographers debuting their new video for 'Moves', which is taken from their 5th album, Together. The New Pornographers - Moves is an article from: Addict Music

The music video for "Moves" reads like a funny trailer for a biopic of The New Pornographers ' band story. It's got a cast of guest stars you may recognize, including: Paul Rudd and Bill Hader (who appear first in the preceding 'trailer'), Ted Leo, Horatio Sanz, John Hodgman, Donald Glover, Jon Wurster, Julie Klausner, Kevin Corrigan, Wyatt Cenac, and Todd Barry. What a clever idea for a music video. P.S. Can we expect to see Expectant Dads this summer? [...]
"Moves," the New Pornographers newest music video, off of Together , features an all-out ensemble that's worth watching again and again, even if the song does sound a little like Weezer's "Sweater Song." Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Horatio Sanz, Donald Glover, John Oliver, Wyatt Cenac, John Hodgman, a cross-dressing Ted Leo, and an Independent Spirit Award nominated performance from Kevin Corrigan as Dan Bejar. Watch. New Pornographers - Moves
The New Pornographers' latest video "Moves," directed by Tom Scharpling and featuring cameos from Todd Barry, John Oliver, John Hodgman and Donald Glover, among others, is a lot of fun. I haven't been clued in to The New Pornographers - mainly the result of my own ignorance - but I'll be paying closer attention in the future. It's funny how one video or interview can really switch up a perception of a band or artist; knowing that a band has a sense of humor about themselves and their music makes all the difference in appreciating their work.
It's nice to know that bands that barely have enough time to tour together CAN get together to film their own music video. It's nice to know that an awesome band can have a really a great sense of humor about themselves, as well famous friends who can fill and make a pretty sweet music video. And think, I'd just been talking to someone about, what the heck happened to Horatio Sanz. Now we know. Oh, and baby A.C. is pretty adorable, right? xoxo, alyssa

Moves is the new video from The New Pornographers ' last and 6th album Together .
With the football season wrapping up this past weekend, many of us around the HT HQ are eagerly anticipating the return of baseball, which officially gets underway this weekend as pitchers and catchers begin to report to Spring Training . This spring the soundtrack around the ballparks will get a dose of indie-rock as The Baseball Project will be headed to Arizona to play a string of shows at select Cactus League games. The baseball-centric band , who will release their sophomore effort Vol 2: High & Inside on March 1, will [...]
The video works, but give me the Kevin Corrigan-as-Dan Bejar full length. That's something I'd be interested in.
