"I was raised by America, Had a baby with Erykah, N*ggas started expecting the god to dress funny..." Jay Electronica took to his Tumblr to toss listeners a bone. While he calls the track, titled "Act II: Patent Of Nobility (The Turn)," a rough demo we'll still take our blessings as we receive them. Jay Electronica was nice enough to let loose a new track from one of his album recording sessions for his Roc Nation debut, "Act II: Patent Of Nobility", due out in the near future (hopefully). The name of the song isn't clear or known right now, it's also won't be on the LP but shows that this album will be a problem. Check It Out And Enjoy. Hear The Track HereHere's a funny thing. A few years back you couldn't move with the amount of Antipodean (ie Australia, New Zealand) musicians around but they seemed to have been supplanted (at least in my view) by Canadians - a country where, it seems, everybody and his brother is an aspiring muso. New Nobility, then, arrived in my inbox just in time and although its taken us some time to sync

The news just in is that Barack Hussien Obama has just won the prestigious Nobel prize. He got it for peace. We can't believe it but we are duly excited. Updates will be coming up soon. Excerpt fresh from Norway: "It's just been made official that president Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Price." Like that added anything. call it a weakness, but i readily fall in love with everything swedish. perhaps it's just so far away from my own culture that it appeals to me in that exotic way. whatever it is, there's always great music coming from the swedes, and this time it's fredrik . originally a side project for the lk , fredrik has grown to a 6 piece and have an album out at the end of this month called na na ni . album opener "black fur" sees the band start the kitchen party with a shattering beat and a [...]

Friday's a little bit tamer than Thursday's schedule - there are eleven showcases to choose from instead of fifteen, but the festival makes up for it with the first of two official after parties at City Hall. Friday's after party is sponsored by Red Bull and features The Dynamites , and I'm pretty sure everyone's going to end up there at the end of the night. But before that, you've got your work cut out for you deciding what to see. The Cannery has a great lineup - including Kindercastle , Cortney [...]
Man, it seems like only yesterday that I was jamming to that Movies With Heroes / In Clover split EP. But alas, it wasn't. It's been a few years since Theory 8 put out that CD and just about eight years since those fine folks in Nashville have been in business. Yes, eight years for Theory 8. And the label/management company likes the sound of that so much that it's adding another eight into the mix by hosting a birthday bash with eight bands on the bill at Nashville's Mercury Lounge. It's all going [...]

The Story of My Friday, Part 2: The Second Part If you had told me on Friday afternoon that the turnaround to what had been a fairly crappy day would be watching a couple of shirtless, pasty dudes jump around by the pool at Opryland Hotel, I'd have thought you were high. But it turns out that is exactly what happened. The first sign that my Friday was about to get better was about 6:15, when I [...]

Nashville's the Nobility stopped by Atlanta to share with us some of their infectious melodies. You can also get antique advice from them if you listen to their interview on our 26th episode. Fleet Foxes - My New Favorite Band? Like I said before, you're not going to see everything. Pick a daytime event and a nighttime event and just relaxxxxxx 10 Non-LA Bands I'm Hoping to See at SXSW: 1) Fleet Foxes : The new Fleet Foxes EP on Sub Pop is one of the best things I've heard this year. Heavily influenced by classic rock bands like Neil Young, Yes, the Zombies and Dylan I suppose. Sad I missed their recent show at the Troubadour. See [...]

Nashville, TN "The Mezzanine" The Nobility on MySpace The Nobility on The Hype Machine
So I'm totally planning on writing a few previews of shows going on this week (The Silent Years, Warm In the Wake, Through the Sparks), but since there's a lot on the agenda I thought I'd give you a little rundown of my recommendations first so you can plan ahead. And some mp3s, so you can get a taste of what you can see live. I didn't include Saturday on here because I'll cover that later this week. Tonight - [...]
It has now been a whole month since I posted anything on here. My travels around Eastern Europe was awesome to put it mildly - some amazing places and some even more amazing people. Thanks to everyone who offered to put me up and to those who did put up with Holly and myself [...]

Nashville's new rock royalty, the Nobility , have just unleashed their freshly-recorded debut album on the record-buying public at large. Titled The Mezzanine , it's an 11-track, 36-minute shot of orchestral pop'n'roll that sounds like a modern Beatles record, both in content and production. Fresh off a tour of the east coast (they killed it here in Philly), frontman Sean Williams took some time to answer a few questions about the band, it's legally fraught history, their library/elementary school tour of yesteryear, and the new record. Tell us [...]

There are a couple of young bands straight out of Music City, U.S.A., that's Nashville, TN in case you didn't know, that not only are making some pretty damn good music, but also starting to make some noise outside our fair city. The Nobility ( myspace ), formerly Jetpack UK , released their debut album, Mezzanine , a scant week ago. I haven't had an opportunity to listen to the entire record, but based on the songs posted below, you can expect Beatlesque tight [...]

Last Tuesday, The Nobility released their debut full-length album, The Mezzanine . If you like The Beatles, Fruit Bats, or Ron Sexsmith, you are going to like this album. So in other words, if you have a pulse, you are going to like this album. I really dig the arrangements of songs, and the variations of tempos from one song to the next. I also don't come across many bands that change the tempo within a song as much as The Nobility does. The first time I heard "Let Me Hang Around," I thought I wasn't going to like [...]

In general I try to focus on information that a music fan in Los Angeles can use. So usually in the past I've always needed an LA-related excuse for a post. I tend to avoid the blogs that focus primarily on "breaking" new bands (you know the type... hey guys, check out [insert band name]. I've only heard these two songs, but I think they're great. And don't they look cool in their photo. Here are a couple of MP3s to download). But in the spirit of all those hyperbolic bloggers, here's a new band without any real LA connection..... [...]

(post Siren party) TV Note #1: Is there anyone else that really hates the girl that plays Sally on Flight of the Conchords? Its bad enough that she was annoying on the Clueless TV show, but now she's breaking the hearts of my boys Bret and Jermaine - that is unacceptable! Bitch needs a smackdown!!! I probably should have posted about the White Rabbits Daytrotter session already, but I suppose its better late then never. Anyway, the band has an excellent session there, is opening up Siren on [...]
