Starting in that basement would be too early. No, the story of this song starts sooner, before that One AM Radio ( myspace ) show in Boston. The One AM Radio at Solar Haus, Blacksburg, by David Franusich Check out my photos from the One AM Radio show, was all my friend's email said. Who? It's this band. They're good. Check them out. I did. I checked out some mp3s. They were good, but I [...]

This weekends hangover mix comes from UK band Rolo Tomassi ( well was picked by James the keyboard player but lets say it was picked by the band its easier ). Rolo Tomassi play a synth driven fury which at times descends into lounge jazz and at others peaks with balls out punk rock, but this weekend we have them in a bit more of a relaxed note and putting together a mix for sore heads. tracklisting and download link in the read more 01 why? - good friday 02 [...]
Holiday time again so the wordage on these pages will become distinctly threadbare over the next week or so. In an effort to hold onto my 3 regular readers (hi Mam, Dad, web sheriff) you can be assured that a well turned out tune will magically appear here daily at 4.42pm GMT thanks to the wonder of blogger's new future scheduling capability. So while I sip on another sucrose laden beverage you

Talk about a man of many talents: This video was hand-drawn (and - see his fingers? - hand-animated in stop-motion) by the One AM Radio himself and filmed on his Mac's on-board camera. The One AM Radio - "A Brittle Filament": mp3 *** Click below for more Videos .
Greetings from the tail of what was my Hectic Hump Day...and man, if Friday isn't banging on the door already... I'm currently in the midst of simultaneously monitoring the taping of 3 different classrooms with a total of six cameras...and using... visit for more mp3's & random revelations
This year was by far the best concert year I've ever had. I cannot remember the last time I saw so many great shows in one full year like this. Despite last year's dredg concert and Glassjaw reunion show, this year was a concert year that was full of opportunities that were not missed. Whether it was seeing Wu-Tang reunite or seeing Incubus after 8 years or seeing bands ( Woven , Division Day , etc) from the west coast that seldom tour in the east coast, this year [...]

This week, I've gone back to a few artists from last week's mixtape because they were great (The Dimes, Minipop, Maia Hirasawa), then trown in a couple radio-play wonders (Jack Johnson, The Wombats), and sprinkled with several newbies. I've been having trouble this week with a couple of plugins I wrote for WordPress- so if you happen to notice somethings not working properly let me know, would ya? Otherwise, I'm just drawing a blank for things to say. Download the mixtape, listen, enjoy, comment, and I'll be back after the weekend. Tracklisting: [...]
In part 2 of the Sunday Mix series (sorry I missed a few) my friend Will has made a guest appearance with his mix that goes through indie-pop, post-rock, dance, and mashup. Eclectic but great.-Jerome howdy, everybody. i put together a little mix of five songs that you may or may not have heard; it's hopeful that you'll like them, and maybe they'll pique your interest in the artists or specific music feel of each song. Animal Collective - Derek [...]

If you haven't had the chance to pick up the Annuals debut LP Be He Me , then that's your assignment over this holiday weekend. It should definitely be apart of your collection. Actually while you're at it, go ahead and grab the Frelen Mas EP with it. Sometimes a collection of b-sides doesn't stand par to the original album, but that's not the case with Frelen Mas . I did notice that these songs were the slightest bit toned down compared to the LP though. FM does have [...]

Photo by David Greenwald - ( more here ) Done with his West Coast residencies, the One AM Radio is headed back to the bitter cold of the East that informs his songs so fundamentally - "A Ghost on the East Coast," anyone? The tour's in support of Maritime , who I had to miss when they played out here recently, but it should be a hell of a double bill. 11.15.07 | Chicago, IL @ Subterranean 11.16.07 | Lawrence, KS @ Replay Lounge 11.17.07 | Tulsa, OK [...]

Sometimes a photo is so unspeakably weird that I can't stop looking at it. Here's a good example. These yummy remixes are not as weird as that mixed-up photo. Metric's "Monster Hospital" remix is great on the treadmill, and the Pretenders' "Lie To Me" is dark and gooey, just the way I like it. Enjoy! Metric: Monster Hospital (MSTRKRFT remix) One AM Radio: What You Gave Away (Alias remix) Badly Drawn Boy: The Journey from A to B (Go! Team remix) The Pretenders: [...]
This song crept up on me late last night just as I was about to pack it in. It is short yet carries enough sweetness in its lifetime to fill a thousand letters to Santa. Hrishikesh Hirway is the One AM Radio and is based out of Los Angelus. His biggest achievement to date has been the use of his song ‘What You Gave Away’ for a Pontiac advert. ‘Coming Back’ (taken from this years ‘This Too Shall

Simple, melodic, intimate, introverted : all words that could be used to describe Nire 's debut full length album Vespers , which is set to be released October 9th. When I say simple, I don't mean simplistic. With Nire, it boils down to Erin Morgan and Josh Hinton on vocals and acoustic guitar as the primary means of conveying their musical vision to the listener. Some bands try to get away with sparse instrumentation simply because they can't play anything else or they don't have the support to back them up. That's not the [...]

This weekend make sure to check out a great line up of what can be best described of as indie pop electronica, featuring The One AM Radio from L.A. Sharing the stage is French-Canadian artist Montag and Lymbyc System , one part Austin, one part Phoenix. 9/7/07: First Unitarian Church , Philly 9/8/07: Bacchus Theater @ University of Delaware, Newark 9/9/07: DC9 , DC The One AM Radio - Lest I Forget Montag - Grand Luxe Lymbyc System - Love Your Abuser

S omewhere between the the homespun electronic beats and the classical-meets-folk-rock mini-orchestrations created by multi-instrumentalist Hrishikesh Hirway lies the remnants of someone else's life and someone else's pain. Like the soundtrack to some old reel-to-reel home movies that don't belong to you, it sounds like a haunting look back at happier times that you can't help but think may be completely gone. The projector is your stereo and the slides are the songs from This Too Will Pass , the most recent album from Hirway's project The One AM Radio . Sounding something remotely [...]

Today on the way from class to work I experienced a very strange storm. When I left campus the sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the clouds were nowhere to be seen, about a mile into the interstate portion of my commute, the sky immediately went gray save for one loophole the sun had found, and the rain began to pour in random and violent spurts. A mile of torrential downpour, a mile of sprinkling, a mile of the sun coming up again, and right back to the storm. I thought of some songs that I thought might [...]

Busy working day today, so I just introduce you to this fine band with the press material that I've received. Find a couple of very pleasant songs after the writings (especially if you're into bands like Band Of Horses or Midlake !) the story: An album 2 years in the making, This Too Will Pass represents [...]
