The Phantom was a 50's Rockabilly artist that is best known for his song "Love Me". While being initially a Country musician, it was the music of Elvis Presley that changed Jerry Lott's style. Thrash metal has a surprisingly large amount of its older acts still alive and kicking. Overkill just released a new album, and it wasn't too long ago that Megadeth has a new release, too. Plus, there's always the rest of the "Big Four" to take account of. Between all the older bands still doing their thing and newer acts like Havok , Toxic Holocaust , and Vektor bringing the style to a new generation, Thrash isn't going anywhere for a while. This week's Flashback Fridays comes from Boys Noize and his remix of Justice's track "Phantom Pt II". Harking back to 2008 which was huge for Electro when Justice's album "Across the Universe" and Boys Noize's own album "Oi Oi Oi" was gaining widespread popularity all over the world even appearing in video games such as Grand Theft Auto. The original "Phantom II" was already such a banging track but Boy Noize remix added some subtle touches like his signature glitchy electro sound and speed up the track that makes it much better. A brittle drum and bass tune for you. I'm not sure whether it qualifies as a mash up, since it uses Chemical Brothers samples with Tripnotic's Phantom original.
