Tim promised a surprise on the contrast podcast this week and he certainly delivered! It's part one of the third annual CD Swap extravaganza. I'm listening to it as I write this and it's pretty awesome. I love being a part of the contrast nation and the CD Swap makes me feel even closer to everyone who participates. Check it out here . The way it works is that each person is assigned someone to make a mixtape for and also [...]
Condolences to both bands and their many fans but I'm sure that their various members will be working on other projects we can stay tuned for. read more
It was interesting seeing music that at one time was raw power made for the faithful, in dank basements of the 90s, whispered about between book bag carrying zine writers, evolved into a perfect club soundtrack. read more

This might seem like one long non-sequitur, but just follow along for the ride. OK. The other day at work we learned how to use this thing called an AED-- Automated External Defibrillator . This is a device you'd use in an emergency to shock someone's heart in the unlikely event that they collapse and you can't find a heartbeat. The man who showed us how to use it said that you have to pull away all clothing, etc., to get a good seal [...]

Tell us who you like from the below mp3s and we'll feature them in an upcoming "Listen" segment… Home Video - "I Can Make You Feel It" Vincent Black [...]

Um daginn fjallaði ég um The Pharmacy og má með sanni segja að það hafi kætt þingheim og hann fagnað vel og innilega. það er því ekki úr vegi að halda gleðinni áfram og fá eins og tvö, áður óheyrð (á þessu bloggi allavega), lög með sveitinni. Lögin eru af stórgóðri plötu sveitarinnar Choose Yr Own Adventure . Njótið vel! [MP3] The Pharmacy - Mirror [MP3] The Pharmacy - Adeiu, Adeiu Pleasureboaters er hressilegt Seattle-tríó sem valdið hafa nokkrum usla í bloggheimum. Þykja [...]

These Seattle-ites laid down some of that thrash post-daisies with a crazy barage of garage on the first listen. It was awesome even though I had to lower the volume here in the studio. It did no justice to the PleasureBoaters who recently dropped their debut ¡Gross! via Dont Stop Believin' Recs . They got a tour supporting the release so check the dates ! We got some tunes for you off that album so check'em out! Deckhand Paterson Elliptical Realism
It's hard to know what any Pleasureboaters song is about because the lyrics are unintelligible. But it's pretty clear that understanding is not what the band is looking for. The band is punk in the spirit of Fugazi—less focus on chorus or riffs than on bassline and mood. Within the confines of [...]
Listening: 1. Springfactory : Peter (from Suburban Kids With Biblical Names) and Lina (from The Big Picture) play poppy Swedish indie pop together, and they have been since 2004. Back in December they release a collection of their EP's through Series Two Records . There were only 300 printed, and only a few remain. Listen to: Get Out of Bed ( mp3 ) 2. Pleasureboaters : Seattle freak-rockers Pleasureboaters are a little scary, a little !Gross!, and totally hardcore. Listen to: State of the Union ( mp3 ) 3. Young [...]
