After my disgustingly crammed exam timetable has been seen out in two weeks time - 5 exams in 10 days, i'm sure thats used as torture in some countries - i'm planning to give funfunfun a bit of a make-over. After over a year its starting to look a little rough around the edges and i think a revamp might brighten the place up. Just wondering if you guys had any suggestions, tips, criticisms or comments about the blog so far and how i could make it better, so feel free to comment and i'll take everything on [...]
The new Polyphonic Spree album The Fragile Army is one of the year's best albums, and one of the most cohesive to come out in a long time. The single, "Running Away," is probably going to be my favorite song of 2007, and this one's almost as great. And be ...

We are officially in love with The Polyphonic Spree 's upcoming album, The Fragile Army . As a fan of everything that Tim Delaughter has created over the last 15 years or so, I can genuinely say that this album ranks right alongside Jesus Hits Like the Atom Bomb as one of the most beautiful things Delaughter has ever done. "Light to Follow" has been one of our favorite songs since we first saw the band perform it in Austin last year , and the [...]
A quick wrap of some new stuff that's surfaced in the last day or two. The Handsome Furs are releasing Plague Park a week from today and though The Don has already posted the track, you can have it again. The Polyphonic Spree are dropping The Fragile Army on June 10, Ga Ga Ga Ga from Spoon will be on us on the 10 th of July, The Go! Team will have something for us come 10 September and I'm not sure about Two Gallants. Whew, and I didn't even mention Wolf Parade (so have a couple [...]
Yesterday I resigned myself to the fact that I would not be seeing the Polyphonic Spree in Georgia on Monday. Now it looks like I've got a lot more chances to get my next fix. MP3: The Polyphonic Spree - Soldier Girl Polyphonic Spree Tour Dates 05-14 Athens, GA - 40 Watt Club 05-27 ...

David E Sugar - Just Like Heaven Let's kick off with David E. Sugar's cover of The Cure's classic 'Just Like Heaven'. This track is bizarre. Nice bleepy intro, all looking promising, then WHOAAA! 40 seconds in, it drops into a weird electro-ska beat - which is not a genre I ever envisioned existing. The delivery isn't perfect - it doesn't come anywhere near close to the original - but full marks for innovation. --- Here's a couple of interrelated new remixes that I've collected during the week from the blogosphere. [...]
Every Indio-bound indie rock fan will be crowding around Coachella's cleverly named "Coachella Stage" tonight at 7:40 for a performance from reunited Scottish alt-rockers Jesus And Mary Chain. No competition, there (sorry, Felix Da Housecat). Last night, however, Pomona's Glass House hosted the real first reunion show since 1998. And LAist was there for the reunion tour preview... The Reid Brothers started off rocky, kept it slow, and seemed generally disinterested to be there. Or perhaps they were still pissed off at Rock for not delivering them all the riches they so deserve. [...]

Annie Clark is St. Vincent , and it is about time she burst out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Clark has already played supporting roles for the likes of Sufjan Stevens and The Polyphonic Spree, and is now very poised to join the ranks of other great female folk / pop singers. The album from St. Vincent, titled Marry Me is out July 10th from Beggars and the first song to see the light of the web is listed below for you to download and enjoy. Annie is currently [...]
Until SXSW, my only experience seeing the Polyphonic Spree was that episode of Scrubs where they play "Light and Day" in the hospital with balloons bouncing and white robes flowing. While cute, it didn't really prepare me for the current incarnation of their live show. MP3: The Polyphonic Spree - Section ...

One of the best events I attended this year at the South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive Conferences and Festivals held March 9-18 in Austin, TX was the Inaugural Hot Freaks! Blogger Curated Music Experience . Produced by two local Austinites, the two day event was booked with the help of some of the top music bloggers in the world, including Frank from Chromewaves , Dodge from My Old Kentucky Blog , Jax from Rock Insider , Matt from You Ain't No Picasso , David from Largehearted Boy , and of course, [...]

THE POLYPHONIC SPREE Last year, a stripped-down crew of 6 of The Polyphonic Spree contributed a few songs to the soundtrack of a movie called Keeping With The Steins. I presumed that these tunes had been lost forever, due to a limited movie release and non-existent soundtrack release. But the latest episode of Coverville includes the semi-Spree's cover of R.E.M.'s Shiny Happy People. From The Fragile Army blog: yes, yes we know...how perfect to have polyphonic sing about [...]

This is the post where we tie up a few loose ends before we head down to Austin for SXSW. Here are the parties we're involved with in some capacity or another; stop by and say hi if you get the chance: A couple of notes: check the Hot Freaks website for a few changes and additions to the lineup, including St. Vincent 's slot moving from 2:30 PM to 11:30 AM due to a scheduling conflict, and the addition of Birdmonster to [...]
I'm sad to say that the time has come for me to finish the particular series....For now. It seems you'll have to get high on your own supply of music for a while. But fear not, I'm not plunging you completely into darkness for there is a faint light at the end of tunnel and that light is my next series. So until then....er....hold me now? Anyway back to normal speak, I'm taking a break for a while in order to build up some new songs. Basically the musical world doesn't pump out good music at a rate fast enough [...]
That post on Casper and the Cookies covering a Rocky Horror song made me look around for a copy of Wig in a Box. It's indie acts like Frank Black, Sleater-Kinney and Rufus Wainwright covering the soundtrack of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Genius? You bet. Here's my favorite Hedwig ...

It's Christmas Day! Jollywoohoo! So yes, I finally got it done. Consider that an accomplishment. Here I proudly present: Zeon's Mixtape Vol. 3! I save the best for last, so this collection of songs consist of my favorite, traditional and original, from most of my favorite artists & bands of different types of music, all served for one purpose: making you feel festive & all warm up inside, and appreciating the spirit at this time of the year. You can tell I've put quite much effort into making this, so I hope you will enjoy the mix as [...]
My little brother is going nuts because Santa not only paid him a visit, but devoured the cookies that he left for them. The family is in town and there are presents to be received and given! May the festivities begin and no matter where you are - have a terrific Christmas!
