Like a wedge finding the weakness in a small fissure, the keyboard pop coming out of the minds of the current crop of adolescents and post-adolescents is both tiny and potentially huge. Built in the ashes of a post-Postal Service world, the bedroom jams of burgeoning LA two-some - currently at USC and Vassar College respectively - Bend represent the smallest of impulses on the appropriately titled, "Short Crush". Soft 8-bit breakdowns lay beside a snapping loop and pretty boy-girl duet, all accented with the type of lyrics that make most intimate sense [...]
It's Monday, and it's a Monday where I'm still feeling like I'm recovering from the weekend. Considering yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, I have a feeling many of you are feeling the same way. I didn't even make it out yesterday, because my ass was too hungover to get off the couch. But I feel for those of you who did, because trust me, I felt close to death yesterday. So if that's you today, or hell, even if you're a good kid just trying to get some work done, I've got your soundtrack. Here is the latest [...]

Photo by Myriam Santos XPN's Gotta Hear Song of the Week featured Joseph Arthur and his new song "Saint of Impossible Causes." The track comes from Arthur's upcoming album The Ballad of Boogie Christ. Stream and download the song below, and learn more about Ballad here . Wednesday's My Morning Download featured a quartet from Nashville called The Features and their song "The Disorder." The band is a musical chameleon, drawing their quirky sound from classic rock, indie rock, southern [...]

I feel like I’ve hit a dead end. Maybe it’s the work/revision-to-life ratio which I’ve been steadily abusing over the past few weeks, maybe it’s the lack of good food in my fridge, maybe this is what studying is all about. Maybe. Whatever it is I definitely think the lack of Vitamin D in my life has made me more susceptible to what I like to describe as ‘songs that just make you go FUCK!’ And, no, I don’t mean ‘songs that just make you go FUCK, THAT DROP WAS HUGE. I mean songs that [...]
As JIMMY LAVALLE, multi-instrumentalist and head of THE ALBUM LEAF named MARK KOZELEK's music to be one of his major influences on various occasions, he might not have thought about collaborating with the former singer of legendary slowcore-institution RED HOUSE PAINTERS. And to be honest, a certain amount of scepticism felt appropriate indeed, when Perils The post Sun Kil Moon & The Album Leaf - Perils From The Sea appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .

S eattle's Kris Orlowski just released a cover of The Postal Service's Such Great Heights as part of Independent Clauses ' celebration of 10 years of Give Up. This version is a slower, more atmospheric take on the original, and Kris' voice adds a depth to the normally airy tune. It's a welcomed departure from the original. All proceeds from pay-what-you-want donations go to mechanical licenses (so The Postal Service gets paid legally) and to long-term Hurricane Sandy relief via the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. The three-track set is part of a larger collection of covers set to [...]
A decade ago, Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello released their landmark self-titled recording under the moniker The Postal Service.
Who doesn’t love Feist ? Her voice is phenomenal and her style is impeccable. The overall Feist sound is incredibly avantgarde and in this listener’s humble opinion, fan-freaking-tastic. Dig this remix of Mushaboom from The Postal Service.

Photo Credit: Brian Tamborello The Postal Service - Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) and prodcer Jimmy Tamborello (Dntel) - have reunited for a tour and the 10th anniversary release of Give Up , a collection of electro-pop songs that has a lasting influence on indie rock since its release in February, 2003. No one foresaw the influence the record would have. The album's most popular song "Such Great Heights," began to seep into the zietgeist of pop culture over a period of a couple of years. It [...]

>> The fact that we haven't bought a Tullycraft record since the release of 1999's singles compilation (fittingly titled The Singles ) is more a sign of poor decision making than of a lack of enthusiasm for the delightful indie pop institution. We can still remember the excitement in college back in the dark ages when those first singles were arriving at the radio station, a time when people still somewhat suspiciously referred to Seattle-based Tullycraft as the "new thing from the Crayon guy." Fronted by Sean [...]

Autumn De Wilde Who: The Postal Service What: The scrappy electro-pop offspring of Death Cab For Cutie's Benjamin Gibbard and DNTEL's Jimmy Tamborello which, with a little help from a couple of Jennifers - Wood and Lewis - crafted an album that would template much of indie- and electro-pop for the next decade and beyond and find a special place in the hearts of a generation of indie kids everywhere. Why: After ten years of refusing to tour or record a second record, Gibbard and Tamborello [...]
