Here at HAD, we've been big fans of The Postmarks ever since their self-titled debut LP. Never mind the fact that subsequently the band released a great LP called By The Numbers on eMusic , and managed to get some pretty substantive remix mileage out of the first record's worth of material. Given all that, we were psyched to hear that the band has a new record dropping next week. So far we've only managed to get our hands on one track ("My Lucky Charm", below), but judging by the sound [...]
I’m having a tough time today trying to find anything of interest to post and at some point I was thinking about turning today’s post into a plea to my favorite artists that they should start posting news, music, tour dates, whatever, just to give me something to write about. I even considered suggesting that some of them should split up, but in an afterthought I reckoned it probably wasn’t such a brilliant idea after all! I'm obviously well aware that one shouldn’t just post for the sake of posting without having a least something slightly relevant to say, but [...]

If we're being 100% honest, we don't know why we're so fascinated with Twitter and, more saliently, our number of followers thereon. We realize that, to a large degree, it's just marketing and product placement and so on and so forth. (Nobody gives a shit that you're at the airport. We all care that Shaq is. Dig?) That said, we really want an ass-load of people to know our most intimate thoughts and feelings on a minute by minute basis. As such, we're making a bald-faced plea to you, dear and loyal reader, to [...]

As a non American, Florida and cool orchestral Pop really seems perched at opposite ends of the musical spectrum. The Postmarks manage to sound almost Parisian in an architectural French kind of way. You will instantly be absorbed by Tim Yehezkely`s understated vocals, her naturally smouldering good looks and the band`s ability to fuse retro Lounge Pop with some intricately constructed Indie tunes. The Miami trio`s latest album`Memoirs At The End Of The World` has the warm feel of a distant film score parading a bite size Bardot/Sellers moment in time. Released 25th August, I hope the people surrounding The [...]

Miami based trio The Postmarks It's not often Pitchfork and WAPS agree on music, but we have to echo their glowing review of The Postmarks ' new album 'Memoirs At The End of the World'. This Miami-based trio will hopefully appeal to fans of Saint Etienne, Broadcast, early-era Cardigans, Mono, Stereolab, possibly even Ladytron...it's all rather lush, floaty and retro, basically. Why not check them out yourself - grab a free download of the band's ' My Lucky Charm' here and check out more on MySpace . [...]
The Postmarks are a indie/pop/classical band that are releasing their latest album Memoirs at the End of the World on August 25th. Their sound may make one reminiscence the theatrical tune of the James Bond theme or at least remind one of the musical scores of movies from the 60 and 70s, but with the addition of classic pop, the end result is something much grander and freshly modern. Give them a

It's only fitting that the cover of The Postmarks ' fab new album has that classic long-player look: 60's graphics and style, even the "worn" areas where a vinyl 12" outline had appeared. For the South Florida trio nothing can be too 60's trippy chic, too retro or too, well, fringe, naugahyde and go-go boots -- and their music plays like the soundtracks to some lost 60's day- glo pop meets spaghetti western films. All of this would be a mindless camp exercise if it weren't for the [...]

Photography by cecinestpasunepipe I'll tell you, you want to know whether or not you like an album? Try driving around on a hot humid day, running errands, like dropping off your broke computer to get looked at because this time you're just stumped, then picking up film in downtown for Sunday's shoot , then heading to the post office to pick up a package, finding the line 5 deep and only one guy working it, only to find they don't have your package and you'll have to call the supervisor, and during all [...]
The Postmarks - “ Goodbye ” I may have learned about The Postmarks during my twee binge earlier this Spring, but I’ve been holding off on posting them because I think their vibe is best suited to mid-to-late summer. Musically, the Postmarks make a twee-pop similar to Camera Obscura , though there are notable differences. The Postmarks don’t tend to be as cutesy/clever with their lyrics, and the music has a more general love-lost theme. Overall, this makes The Postmarks better suited to nighttime listening, though this track from their 2007 self-titled album [...]

Photography by Tsuru Original Print available at the TSURUFOTO Etsy Shop With a flux of new music comes the potential of a new mixtape . All it takes for me is a song or two to stick like a dirty leech to my brain, then suddenly, I start searching out other songs floating around the iPod or iNternet or whatever, songs that hone in around those first few stand out songs. Usually, I'll end up with too many songs, in a [...]

The time has come! Summer is upon us, and for me, as a blogger, it can only mean one thing: Time for the annual summer mix! However, this year's will be quite different from the previous ones, hence its appearance here instead of the main blog. This time around, I made it with a clear theme in mind: To create a soundtrack for a fantastic summer getaway fantasy. Exotic locales, improbably blue skies, palm trees & white sands... steel drums. You name it all. Summer Getaway is a concoction of [...]

After owning pinball tables since I was seventeen or eighteen, and the two I have now for over twenty years, I'm finally going to sell one of them... it was going to be both, but the promise of a new place with adequate space, has made me decide to let my Fathom go now, and hang onto the Eight Ball Deluxe a while, then see what pans out - hopefully I'll get back into playing again, and if not - well, they do look pretty cool, right?. I never gave pinballs more than a glance until 1981, when [...]

That's right, I'm back. As you may notice, I took some time to change the look. Widen out the display and give it a bit of a professional feel. Hope you like. I'm trying to catch up on the past 5 months of music so we're going to start with the tail end of 2008 that I missed out on. I apologize for the lack of writing prowess. For some reason I just can't think of anything interesting to say about each and every song (they're all good) but I'm sure I'll get back into [...]
