Based in Australia but with a strong Irish connection, The Potbelleez follow up their Electric Picnic slot with a DJ set at the Kitchen this Friday night and a full band show as part of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange project in November. They tell us all about themselves... Who are you and where are you from? The Potbelleez...me (Dave Goode) and Jonny Sonic from Dublin, Ilan Kidron from Bondi beach Sydney, Mc Blue from Brisban, but we are based in Sydney when not touring. Who [...]
For those who haven't heard, Zed's Dead just released to their fans a new to most, yet old song of theirs "Coffee Break." The song is a notch down from the regular intensity Zed's Dead drops in their tracks, but the static sounds and reverberating bass we love hearing is there and in a delightful, laid-back form. But enough chatting, here's the track, free download from their soundcloud : As an added bonus I have 2 new track samples from one of Dim Mak's newest: Ken [...]
she a carazzy busy day in the office and shortly we're bout to head into a quickie (approx 90 minutes long) meeting. butt before a her we pause the work and appreciate some cheddar-house-popping via the THE POTBELLEEZ newest MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT video. wotyougot
Hello - Potbelleez Well hasn't this been one crappy week. TV show themes, a song i didn't want to deal with, and a day i almost gave up. And now a song i only know through its use as a station ID for the digital channel GO!. Well great. It's nice channel 9 could find a cheap enough song featuring the lyric "GO!" to use constantly for station promos. Some entrepreneuring person should write a catchy, of-the-times song replete with "GO"s ready for when [...]

"Where do I end, where do you begin?" I've written about Australia's Potbelleez once before (how's that for an opening sentence?), and remarked about how much I hate their band name. It's completely unappealing and makes you anticipate some dreadful, boozy schlock rock outfit. In fact, this band makes trendy, commercial dance pop. Throughout the album, vocals are shared between several band members, making for a somewhat scattershot listen. But when it works, it works. Opening track, Feed Off Me , forgoes the trendiness that mars some of the later songs for a straightforward, anthemic [...]

Last November, Sydney four piece, The Potbelleez , released a new single, "Hello" which is skyrocketed to the top of the Australian Independent Music Chart (No. 4). The single marked the return of The Potbelleez and a new album, Destination Now , This album is a follow up to their 2008 self titled debut. Today, ViciousRecordings is uploaded a full preview of "Twitch" from the album (below) \n The New Album Out May [...]
With Miami Music Week over, this is usually the time of the year that I have the worst EDM hangover. Thankfully, Orlando has begun to grow as a major stop for EDM artists with Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, Avicii, Rusko, Doorly, Ghostland Observatory and an already stellar partial lineup for EDC Orlando through April and May. It looks like my hangover this year might be cured much sooner than usual. My weekend trip to Costa Rica certainly didn't hurt either. Hopefully this will be a recurring theme. - Whiteface If you enjoy [...]

contrary to pop belief, that is not our eye on the THE POTBELLEZ artwork for their sophobore DESTINATION NOW long_one. wotyougot
"We're gonna lose control" It's amazing what a band name can do. A good one gets me excited about the music before I've even heard a note. A bad one, like The Potbelleez, literally keeps me from listening to the band's work. I've known of this Irish/Australian dance group for awhile now (they're huge in Australia) but never bothered to listen to any of their music because I figured it would be as unappealing as their name. I guess they always say 'don't judge a book by its cover'... and I'll add 'don't judge a band [...]

Sydney four piece, The Pottbelleez , released a new single, "Hello" which is now at the top of the Australian Independent Music Chart (No. 4). The single marks the return of The Pottbelleez with a new album, Destination Now, scheduled for January 2011 release. This album is a follow up to their 2008 self titled debut. The first single "Hello" hit Australian radio on 19 July 2010. They have performed this song live at the AFL Grand Final Footy Show, held at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne and at the The NRL Footy Show Grand Final [...]

Just as we're coming off a crazy Halloween weekend, The Bloody Beetroots are swooping in tomorrow night for what looks like a show for the books. Their first time in Portland looks promising as the P-Town crowd never disappoints (ie. Chromeo, Rusko , Bassnectar). Don't miss this show, you will regret it. I picked up a new DCUP remix and as usual it had me and my roommates dancing around our apartment like a bunch of little girls. Needless to say, DCUP has never disappointed [...]
Ayo Vacayers, I have a particularly mysterious yet nutritious vitamin for your audible enjoyment. Stephen Fasano, aka The Magician, is a man with many powers and has been releasing some of the most interesting mixes, Magic Tapes , through his soundcloud . I wanna warn you tho... you may quickly develop an aggressive addiction to these intoxicating vitamins. Our curiosity regarding these Magic Tapes has led us to investigate more about its creator, which many regard as the most interesting man alive. Rumor is that The Magician is actually who the dos equis commercials [...]

A few things came to mind immediately upon learning there was a band called The Potbelleez . The first was the delicious hot peppers available at Potbelly's, the most delicious sandwich place that's half a mile from my house that I never go to. And the second was, of course, imagining that chick from Pulp Fiction discussing her admiration for potbellies. But food and movies aside, DCUP out of Sydney, Australia pretty much kills it with what he calls his 90s house redub of this tune. I don't think we've had as much [...]

You all know the two guys above 'The Potbelleez' are DJ-producers Dave Goode and Jonny Sonic, sassy singer & MC Blue and vocalist Ilan Kidron. Both Irish, Dave and Jonny landed as backpackers in Sydney in 2002 and met shortly after to form the original dynamic duo. Blue joined the pair in 2005, having previously dropped rhymes for legendary UK act Hexstatic, whilst living in London and Ilan made his entrance in 2006 as the band took about a legendary 2 year Saturday night residency at Moulin Rouge in Sydney's red light district, Kings Cross. Today, The Potbelleez [...]
So, Kia, the car company, has come out with an an awesome new series of commericals which I affectionately refer to as the Kia "Hamster Commercials". Each spot is essentially the same but with a different song. Two of which I find absolutely awesome. The first is "Do What You Do" by Marz. I've done son preliminary research on this rapper but I'm not sure if what I found is legit. The myspace page connected to a rapper named "Marz" doesn't feature the new Kia commercial or the song played. I would think Marz' myspace page would feature the commercial and [...]

A bit of synth, synth and well more synth from the lovable Cut Copy . Who for the record still haven't replied back to my invite, bastards. This time a mix of the Kaiser Chiefs with their track 'Never miss a Beat', original was spot on and this just makes it a more pleasurable experience to dance to. Kaiser Chiefs - Never Miss a Beat (Cut Copy Remix) Next is a track that popped up in a random playlist and I thought to myself.. why not? [...]

put on that midnight smile for me. i've always had a thing for everything Ozzie, and these pictures of Sophie Monk (fish lips aside) really helped explain why: they're bloody hawt! let's just pretend for a second that she wasn't in the shit-tastic 'Date Movie' and appreciate her for her true ASSets. i'm a tacky bastard, i know. in all seriousness, though, all the Oz girls i've ever met have had this gorgeous beachy look going on without even trying and have all been absolutely stunning. i don't think i've ever met [...]
It takes a few minutes to really get going but it ends on a great sequence. Ideal for a mixout for you DJs out there. The Potbelleez - Don't Hold Back.mp3 [props to d squared]
