Monolith Music Festival at Denver's Red Rock's Amphitheatre was unbeatable with its gorgeous scenery and great line up. Below you will find a continuation of Saturday's festivities on Sept. 13. Be sure to come back and check out what I thought of the following day and if you missed it, here is what I thought [...]
If there's one thing I learned last night, it's that Minneapolis kids can get down when they want to. Last night a bunch of Aussies blew the top off the Fine Line. By the time I arrived at the venue Kordan had finished their set and The Presets were playing to a packed, nearly sold out house (apparently there were a few tickets left). The duo from Sydney delivered a pretty standard set drawing heavily from this year's Apocalypso; they got a great response. Behind them (and later Cut Copy) were two panels of fluorescent tube lighting that switched through [...]

Ladyhawke, is just another gem from the undeniably groundbreaking year Modular is having. The Presets, Cut Copy, Van She, Wolfmother in early 09' and The Avalanches new album just over the horizon. I think they can be label of the year for me. Now onto Ladyhawke. Obviously I loved that she named herself after the Michelle Pfeiffer film of the same name that was released in 1985. She doesn't just stop with the name she also continues to sound like band of that time. With songs like "Back of The Van" with a workout video beat, synths and a echo [...]

.. .... Cut Copy and the Presets , both on Australia's hottest record label Modular , are two of the biggest electronic/dance acts in the world right now, and two of my favorites. The Presets have hit their stride with the muscular electro pop anthems on their second album, Apocalypso , and having seen them five times, I can guarantee they put on an amazing show. Cut Copy have probably made the album of the year, In Ghost Colours , thanks to producer Tim Goldworthy (from DFA). Each could easily headline this [...]

Cut Copy with the Presets September 15, 2008 The Record Bar Next Best Thing To : The Faint opening for New Order By JASON HARPER The Record Bar throbbed like an artery last night as Australian electro-pop groups the Presets and Cut Copy turned the small bistro-slash-concert-hall into a sweaty slip ‘n slide of rave-house dance beats and live-PA fury. Even the Rock-Afire Explosion might have lost some animatronic bear fur trying to keep up. I [...]

I had a great week. I have been head over heels in love with The Presets music from the minute it reached my ears. This week, the gang was in NYC, I met up with K.I.M. and co. on Tuesday night, and the excitement was infectious when he told me that just an hour before they found out the won 4 Aria Awards, YES, 4!!! Aria's are the Aussie equivalent to the Grammy's, and they were up against some stiff competition. The Presets - My People - D.I.M. Remix [...]

When we spinned this thang last evening, someone whispered: Goodbye summer, it was lovely to have met you. Mp3: The Presets - Talk Like That (CFCF Remix)
The time has come for the return of everyone's favorite blog based automaton. That's right, Wesley is back and he is encouraging the lot of you to do your homework early so you won't be stressed out. Which is a good idea, but often easier said than done. Perhaps it's easier for him to say so because his computer chip brain allows him to be the ultimate multi-tasker. Anyway, here are some tracks I've been enjoying lately. Walter Meego - Forever Shy Child - The Volume [...]

Apparently, this joint tour between Cut Copy and The Presets is going swimmingly. Most dates are now sold out, though they've added a few recently in California and Mexico. So if those aren't already gone, I'd get to my nearest ticket agent and scoop those bad boys up. The Presets have been dominating their native Australia's music charts, with over 17 weeks in the Top Ten. They've also been flooding the internet with some pretty damned fine remixes, including 2 I've included below by LifeLike (which I posted many moons ago here ) [...]

The Aussie duo picked up: Producers Of The Year ( Apocalypso ) Engineers Of The Year ( Apocalypso ) Video Of The Year ('My People') Best Cover Art ( Apocalypso ) Learn more about ARIA here. MP3: The Presets - My People

Sundays can be kind of a drag. Sure, they’re still technically the weekend, but looming just around the corner is the impending routine of the workweek. There’s a definite limit to the amount of fun you can have on a Sunday, as there are several things that must be taken care of: groceries, laundry, to do lists, etc. Well, to make things a little less tedious, I’d like to add a small task to your preparations this week. Download the following tracks, add them to your iTunes/iPods, and pump them all week long. They’re [...]
