Monopoly pieces that never made it. Guess whose second anniversary it is today? That's right: Reselect.com's! Oh yeah...uh huh. Remarkable that it's been two years already...hardly feels like it. But that may be partly because I've slowed down in my posting a lot over the past year, so if you were to do a few comparative calculations, it would really only be something like 5 months in terms of the first year's posts. If you know what I'm saying. I couldn't think offhand of any good "anniversary" songs, so [...]

The Presidents of the United States of America are playing their self-titled 1995 debut album in full on theiri current tour. Six songs of that album can be found on the new free live album Get Back in the Van that is available for download through Noisestrade . The Presidents stick to their recipe of no frills party rock getting the crowd on their feet in no time, inviting them to sing along and stretching the choruses. They are first and foremost a live band and they always deliver. Tracks: [...]

What? Why post about POTUSA ? Well, because I can, right? That and I think the band might be one of the most underrated acts of all time. Their first three records were filled with fun rock jams you could sing to no matter the time of day. It was no frills rock: no bull shit. They've recently started to play a bunch of shows in the North, so they decided to release an EP with a bunch of live and acoustic versions of the hits. This is one of my favorites, and I think it's a perfect tune [...]
Eternal Summers start off the show tonight at Union Transfer. The Virginia trio continues to tour in support of its 2012 LP Correct Behaviour, although a new album may be in the works judging by the fact that the shoegazey punk band played several unreleased songs last time they were in Philly. Despite their carefree name, ... Continue reading
Iconic 90’s pop rock legends the Presidents of the United States of America (Pot USA) played a packed out Hi-fi filled to the brim with adoring fans on Friday night. Performing their 5 time platinum self-titled debut album in its entirety as well as a catalogue of hits, they put beaming smiles on faces and left everyone with a hoarse voice. Pot USA are one of those bands (for me at least but I’m sure many can relate) that bring countless memories. They take me back to junior school days running round in the yard, with their sounds blasting from [...]
So I want to focus a little more on these Alternative Album Grammy Winners that I'm playing for bonus songs on the Countdown. February's album was Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in New York Please answer the following questions in the comments section. (If you don't have an answer, feel free to skip the question) 1. What is your favorite track on [...]
![VIVIAN GIRLS GAVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANTED AT MUSIC HALL OF WILLIAMSBURG [PHOTOS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4787159_lg.jpg)
The Vivian Girls played a rare show February 15 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. They hadn't performed in NYC since last year, in the freezing cold, at a Kate Spade pop-up shop in the meat packing district. The free show, put on by Converse Rubber Tracks, was sold out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, my ticket hookup fell through at the last minute and I only had 2 hours to secure entry. I reached out to Katy Goodman and Cassie Ramone on Twitter, who hooked me up with a ticket and a photo pass. About 30 minutes [...]
While you're out shopping sales, reveling in your day off, or, if you're in another country, or you're in America, but don't get the day off, going about your Monday as usual, I will be busy honoring the accomplishments of my favorite Presidents of the United States of America. God bless 'em! And here, for today only, are the singles from both of the albums I have by them, plus [...]

The Presidents of the United States of America photo by Ron Henry Wondering where a certain record might land in KEXP’s countdown of the top albums of the last 40 years ? You’re not the only one. KEXP reached out to some of our favorite Seattle music writers and asked them to predict what records they anticipated seeing in the voter final results. These aren’t personal Top Ten or Best Of lists, but “educated guesses” based on each individual’s expertise in a certain genre as well as his or her familiarity with the musical universe [...]

John with The Presidents in 2008 photo by Ron Henry It’s time again for Friday on My Mind , which is a weekly collaborative effort between KEXP and King 5 News. What better way to commemorate President’s Day than celebrating Seattle local heroes The Presidents of the United States of America ? I’m sure NO ONE has had this idea before me. I’m the first. I am, right? Childhood friends Chris Ballew and Dave Dederer formed the Presidents in 1990 and gained a small but loyal [...]
