Israel's Monotonix are known and respected and perhaps even secretly coveted here in L.A. because of their world-wrecking live set and super-charged rock 'n' roll. Singer Ami Shalev speaks now while presumably fully clothed. This interview by Rena Kosnett.
I've received quite a few emails promoting this bands tunes. Some of their other tracks are a bit too screatchy for me but this one gets the mix just right. I think the track is named after a house on a road I used to live on but that is a guess to be honest. MP3: 143 - The Press Fire!

We've done several of these 'clearing out the inbox' type posts in the past in varying formats. This time we're going to shake it up once again and give you 7 mp3's in 7 sentences (not counting these 2 of course). 1. The best of the bunch comes from UK hip-hop outfit Nine High, who deliver the most bangin' track about food we've heard in some time, set to a beat that takes us back somewhere between Biz Markie and Quality Control-era Jurassic 5. MP3: Nine High - Cookout (M-Phazes Remix) [...]

So while I was stuffing my face with chips (fries) and cheese, this got dropped in my inbox. Now I'm not the sort of person to just blindly copy and paste everything a press release says into a post without even listening to the song or at least read up about the band. Anyway, somewhere in it, were mentions of Kap Bambino and comparisons to Les Georges Leningrad . And I'm like, "Really?" This refers [...]
courtesy sean carnage Download: Sean Carnage's Mondays Megamix #2 We asked adopted Angeleno extraordinaire Sean Carnage to continue presenting his series of mixtapes collecting some of his favorite bands—local and otherwise. Here's the second installment! (And click here if you missed the first!) Los Angeles is currently at the beginning of a huge musical renaissance. There are so [...]
Pictureplane has been surfing the waves of the tie-dyed pop nouveau atoll for a while, a bit like Patrick Swayze in Point Break, but wearing x-ray specs and heavy liquid tattoos. Telepathic dolphins, megalodon sharks and surreal all-encompassing consciousness coralline configurations stare in his wake as he lands careless from ...
To put it mildly, the last few weeks have been filled with nothing but heartache with so many Angelenos being lost including one we'll post about tomorrow if we can muster the strength and another who is permanently leaving us tomorrow for Austin (the city, not some dude named Austin, which would be equally devastating but much less damaging to our heart considering dudes named Austin are

Merisa Libbey is a force that will soon have to be dealt with. One way or another is going to stomp all over your eyes and hearts. She, a registered dental hygienists, joined up three fellows known as The Press Fire! (TPF!) back in 2004 and completely changed the intensity of their sound. Rumor has it, she found the band through Craigslist by searching the keyword "Bikini Kill." For the last year TPF! has been a mainstay in the Los Angles scene, and now as they prepare to release their debut ep, Es Slash Tee, they are finally [...]

Tons of stuff in this early month mailbox purge. Even as I compile this, more music is flooding the LICORICE PIZZA inbox, so with luck and proper organizational skills, I may actually get out another mailbox post this month. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. You're going to see a couple more than usual electro-dance sorta things. Everybody wants to be the next Lady Gaga. I usually just delete these and move on unless I think the song is catchy or somewhat interesting, or if I just happen to be in a good mood. Two of the [...]

We've been going to a lot of club nights lately to get back in the swing of swinging so we were all too eager to see Anoraak and College for the first time last night at Binary and The Glitch Mob at Low End Theory on Wednesday -- although the latter was a bit too much of a fire hazard for us to stay any longer than a few rotations of one record. In any case, let's hope these boys get a Sahara
