The Proctors have had a busy start to 2012 already. They're fresh off their London Popfest performance and are now heading to Madrid . The UK indiepop revival's bubble burst a couple of years back but that hasn't stopped bands from yesteryear reforming at a steady rate since then and, let's face it, some shouldn't have i.e. for every Primitives there has sadly been a Strawberry Story. The latest, surprising but most welcome return sees the reformation of The Proctors whose last release was the 1996 album "Pinstripes and Englishmen" on cult US label Sunday Records. Ich weiß nicht, ob ich mich schämen soll, dass ich bis vor Kurzem noch nie von der britischen Band The Proctors gehört habe – gibt es sie doch immerhin schon seit den frühen 90ern! Aber erst jetzt stieß ich durch einen Link auf ihre (Wieder-)Existenz. Denn nach längerer Pause haben The Proctors zwei neue Songs veröffentlicht, die absolut fantastisch sind. Vor allem «Perfect world» klingt wie eine gelungene Mischung aus The Sweetest Ache, Language of Flowers und den Pains OBPAH, also genau richtig, um mein Ohr zu erfreuen. It's June, so it must mean it's time for the obligatory Indietracks compilation album. Sadly this year it won't be released on CD in an attempt to reduce costs, meaning you'll have to burn your own discs for the long drive up. On the other hand, as it's a download only, you can pay whatever you like for it with all proceeds going to the lovely Midland Railway Centre . Every year they put up with us descending on them, so it's nice to be able to give them a little something back. [...]
