The soul-rock pioneers hold a special place in Little Steven's heart, as they were the first big-time band he saw perform, inspiring him and fellow attendee Bruce Springsteen to pursue their musical [...]

I've been trying so hard to not like this but it's gotten to the point where I'm now singing "You ain't fuckin with a rascal" at inopportune times during the day (word to the wise - don't quote lyrics with obscenities while walking down the hall at work - most of the people I work with are at least 20 years older than me and are shocked by words like "Goddamn" so I believe they may have had a brain aneurysm over this one). "Fire Blaze" = Earworm. On the other side of this is DJ [...]
Oooo, this might have some potential! The original members of the 1960's-era blue-eyed sould quartet -- singer Eddie Brigati, Keyboardist Felix Cavaliere, Guitarist Gene Cornish and drummer Dino Danelli -- will reunite for what producers call "a hybrid of a rock 'n' roll concert and a Broadway show." Performances of "The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream" will begin April 15 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre and will last only 15 performances, ending May 5. The show made its debut in late 2012 in Port Chester, NY. What do we think? Potential [...]

"Whassup Papa Dana? It's top mama, it's Blanco! It's hot and bothered – no drama, straight to yo door – no trauma." The newly crowned queen of queer rap Mykki Blanco returns with Feeling Special – a clammy first taste from his her forthcoming Betty Rubble: The Initiation EP, expected that little bit later on in the year. Produced by San Fran deep house aficionado matrixxman , it's another acerbic hunk of urban paranoia and urbane lyrical articulation: "Follow... Follow... Follow... Follow me down that rabbit hole" Blanco [...]

Earlier this week we posted that E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt is working to fund the reunion of fellow Jersey band The Rascals , who haven't played live with their original lineup in 40 years. As of this post, their Kickstarter is just about halfway to its goal with 26 days to go. At the time we had no idea how quickly the actual shows would be announced, but it has already been revealed that the reunion is set to make its debut in [...]

Finally the "other" half of the Last Shadow Puppets has a solo album about to drop. Miles Kane turned down a chance to join his mates in Arctic Monkeys because he is a front man at heart. His prior band, The Rascals, showed promise a few years ago, but it was the collaboration with Alex Turner that Miles is best known for. He has written sweet pop songs all along, but "First Of My Kind" has a Last Shadow Puppet feel about it. That's a good thing. [...]

It's pretty easy to get a little confused about the particulars of a certain 'blue-eyed soul' group - especially its name. But even if the group started out as the Rascals, then changed to the Young Rascals for a while before eventually changing back to the original, it entertained a lot of fans in the late 1960s with best-sellers like "Good Lovin'," "Groovin'," and "People Got to Be Free." The Rascals came to life in the New York area in the mid-1960s. Felix Cavaliere, who'd had some experience as a keyboardist and singer in other groups, joined [...]

Toronto - You might have never actually heard the name Miles Kane before, but certainly you will know his music. With previous stints in well regarded bands The Rascals and The Last Shadow Puppets, Miles Kane has certainly made a name for himself in the past few years within the NME/Brit indie garage rock world. With that in mind, the musician from England is now embarking on a solo journey, having released his debut album Colour of the Trap a few months ago. I don't know when or why he did a cover of Edwynn Collin's [...]

Sometimes we forget to check Grime Daily for a week or two, and then have to slog through a backlog of a ton of videos. It is ALWAYS, ALWAYS worth it though.

I was just starting to wonder what was Miles Kane up to. He was one half of the side-project, Last Shadow Puppets , with Arctic monkeys' Alex Turner (who is doing a soundtrack for a movie at the moment), and he was also one third of The Rascals, who you [Read more]
