This slick photo is a Carlie special... The Raveonettes El Rey Theater Los Angeles, CA 10/8/2012 We saw Danish group The Raveonettes in what was our second show at The El Rey Theater in about a ten-day span. This was another band I had been wanting to see for a very long time - readers who have seen my "Best of" lists will know that their records consistently make it into consideration, and often appear on the lists themselves. But they never came to my [...]
The Raveonettes' newest single, "She Owns The Streets," was by far the most played and downloaded track on IRC in September, trailed by the second most popular song of the month, "Angels" by The xx. Other top singles of the month, in order, were the swaggering horn-laced romp ,"A Little Revolution," by Firewater; the sassy [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Check out my photos of The Raveonettes at the Belly Up over at Stereogum .
Fuzz and reverb fanatics packed into the Belly Up Tavern to witness The Raveonettes unleash their tunes from their latest album Observator . Some of the highlights included the hypnotic intertwined vocals of " The Enemy ", the noise freakout of "Aly, Walk With Me" and the inclusion of some older tracks like "Cops On Our Tail." Sweetening the bill was the addition of Parisian dream-swirler Melody's Echo Chamber who shimmered with " Crystallized " and " I Follow You. " Check out the photos above and the setlist below. As elegant as the El Rey Theatre may be, some bands are meant to tear through the venue with reckless abandon, and on Monday the Raveonettes roared as loud as they could once the curtains were drawn open. The Danish duo, of course, has a sophistication with their noise. Touring in support of their sixth studio album “Observator,” Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo are pros at welding a hybrid of raucous garage rock, shoegaze and dream-pop — and their set, which offered a range of arching melodies, swelling harmonies, fervid guitar solos and penetrating rhythms, [...]

Through the smoke and dark-colored backlights, the dreamy sounds of The Raveonettes cascaded over everyone in the El Rey as the duo did what they do best. Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo have the musical chemistry that allows them to bring us shoegaze, garage rock, surf rock (whatever you want to call it) at its finest. From "old school" to their very latest The Observator , we went from closing our eyes and swaying to manic movements. France's Melody's Echo Chamber opened. Photos by Debi Del Grande. [...]

"Despite the intermittent appearance of piano, guitars are still the primary weapon of choice," our own Len Comaratta said of the latest offering from The Raveonettes , Observator. In a newly released pair of clips, guitars are the only weapons for the Danish duo. Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo sit on leather sofas in what could be any greenroom in any venue across the world. It's a stripped-down setting for equally sparse renditions of "She Owns the Street" and "The Enemy", past singles from Observator. The [...]

Frank Yang Technically, the Swedish consulate in Toronto is in the office tower on the northeast corner of Yonge and Bloor, but on Thursday night it was unofficially relocated to the Phoenix Concert Theatre, and their ambassadors for the evening were Jens Lekman and Victoria Bergsman of Taken By Trees , both with acclaimed new records just out - Lekman with I Know What Love Isn't and Bergsman with Other Worlds . As mentioned when this show was originally [...]

The Raveonettes performed their Observator standout, “She Owns the Streets” on Letterman last week. Love how Sune and Sharin just sit on their amps and sound amazing .

Slowly but steadily, Danish duo The Raveonettes have become one of the hardest working indie bands on the circuit. Ever since arriving onto the scene under a fog of melodic vocals, fuzzy guitars and feedback, the duo have put out albums at an incredible rate. Check this out: 2002 - Whip It On (actually an EP) 2003 - Chain Gang of Love 2005 - Pretty in Black 2007 - Lust Lust Lust 2009 - In and Out of Control 2011 - Raven in the Grave 2012 - Observator [...]
