The Raveonettes: [ Curse the Night ] holliefernando

The best song on the Raveonette's Observator is the very last. That song, "Till the End," is the only one on the album that has a solid sound all of it's own. The songs before have a clear style and succeed at what they are doing, but "Till the End" soars. "Till the End" takes the dark and gloomy sounds the album has been playing on and helps them grow. It should be the single. That out of the way, there are eight other songs on Observator that should be addressed too. The album opens with [...]

Father John Misty / photo by Dave Lichterman We can sum up the somewhat short list of shows this week as follows: all killer, no filler. Starting at the Showbox at the Market on Monday night with Iration & The Expendables and Cisco Adler . Tuesday, Animal Collective and Micachu & The Shapes are at Paramount Theatre, Bob Mould plays Copper Blue and Silver Age at Showbox at the Market , Sweden's Holograms are at Barboza with FF , and James McMurtry and The Gourds [...]

Frank Yang It would have been nice to think that the many well-dressed folks milling about on King West Saturday evening were winding their way to The Hoxton, where New Zealand's Pip Browne - aka Ladyhawke - was set to make her first Toronto appearance in almost three years exactly. But no, they were probably just out taking in the final night of TIFF , because The Hoxton was basically empty when I got there. Being an early show with a curfew, waiting around for the more fashionably late wasn't an option [...]
As boas notícias continuaram
Thank God It’s Freeloader Friday! Yes, we are still here. No reason for us to leave you, you dear Freeloaders. Now let's see, what do have this week... Why, some great music of course! Did you know that Cymbals Eat Guitars (true story!), that The Raveonettes is (not) your enemy, ...
The SOTO inbox is always full of cool stuff that never gets to see the light of day on the actual site, and I'd like to change that. So, every Friday I'll be posting the best album streams and videos that were sent my way during the week. Take a scroll and find something worth remembering. The Raveonettes have a new video for the tune "The enemy" off their latest record "Observator" . No idea what Pitchfork was thinking , I think the new album is totally solid.

On October 2nd, The Who will be commemorated with a new all-star tribute album, entitled Who Are You . The 16-track effort includes covers from an eclectic, rag-tag group of artists, including Iggy Pop , The Raveonettes , Todd Rundgren, and musicians from classic outfits like The Kinks , Def Leppard , Cream , King Crimson , Deep Purple , and more. Consult the full tracklist below. Who Are You Tracklist: 01. "Eminence Front" featuring John Wetton (Asia); KK Downing [...]

Don't forget the songs That made you cry And the songs that saved your life Yes we are older now But they were the only ones who ever stood by you... The Raveonettes - Forget That You're Young
The Raveonettes ' sixth LP Observator is officially out, and to add to the enjoyment of hearing the album these past few days is the video for the album track "The Enemy". Directed by Imogen Prado, the video is simply executed, focusing almost entirely on the faces of band members Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo. It is in the editing that the video really stands out, though, as fluorescent lights and psychedelic colours swirl and flourish throughout the shots. Check it out above via NPR . Observator is out now via [...]

James Kelly Over the past decade, the Raveonettes have steadily, reliably released a clutch of solid, dark, romantic records that evoke classic sounds from the past. Their sixth, Observator , came out this week, and it sees the Danish brand embracing a California sound—not the sunshine pop of the beaches, but Tinseltown's dark underbelly, of drugs and faded dreams of stardom. Apparently, songwriter Sune Rose Wagner was pretty fucked up when he was writing these songs, and Observator 's tracks are alternately the most cold, clinical [...]

Si me pidieran que describiera a The Raveonettes , usaría solo tres palabras: amor, oscuridad y distorsión .
