If you're a four-eyed music lover (like me), and think throwing unwanted vinyl records into landfill is just dumb, check these eco-friendly frames out. Vinylize recycles old vinyl records into rather stylish and sophisticated frames. Recycling and stylish and sophisticated aren't usually words tossed around in the same sentence together, but it qualifies here. Here are a few frames that stuck out to me... [...]

Producer Recycle Culture has released his new EP Damaged Image . The three tracks are full of heavy, abrasive drone noise, and you can listen and download below. Damaged Image by Recycle Culture

Producer Recycle Culture follows up his sublime/soothing In Transit EP - one of our favorite and most listened-to releases of the year so far - by dropping a much darker + more abrasive collection of hypnotic, ambient electronic drones on his tumblr / bandcamp . Dude apparently does it all. Listen to the Damaged Image EP in its entirety below, and get it here for just $3 . Damaged Image by Recycle Culture

Recycle Culture conquered blogosphere-fame with some uplifting remixes of The xx, Chromatics, Korallreven and the likes, but his first original work is something quite different. In essence it's him playing the piano mixed with some minor electronics, but to call it just that would be a massive understatement - think a less oriental CFCF or a less twinkly Pantha du Prince. The beauty of In Transit is overwhelming - even though all songs ("Parts") can be listened and enjoyed individually, we strongly recommend to see this as a full experience and always listen to it [...]

Here's something to keep you warm on your next icy morning commute: In Transit is the new EP from Recycle Culture , comprised of 4 floating, expansive, mostly ambient compositions; wintry sounds that envelop and soothe while evoking a longing that tugs at the heartstrings. Not exactly what you'd expect from the anonymous producer based on his uniformly outstanding body of blissful, uptempo trance remixes , but a very welcome and beautiful surprise that we've had on repeat around here all weekend. Pay what you'd like for it here . [...]
Recycle Culture, a quietly fantastic remixer with an ear seemingly always pointed toward early morning sun, released his debut EP In Transit today. The four long songs drift and meander more like mini mixes than ... read more

I'm really obsessed with high BPM right now (anyone else remember gabber shows?). Last year I got really into Rustie. This year it's Recycle Culture and Unicorn Kid. Tweet
Here's a mystery for you: why don't you hear more about The Recyclers' 1995 album Visit ? Is it because they're French? I wouldn't have thought so, forward-leaning jazz isn't known for its adherence to national boundaries. It's not as if they're a bunch of unknowns, either. The band was led by drummer Steve Argüelles, whose name alone should have been enough to get more people interested. Maybe it was the cover, which it must be said is a truly hideous thing, with clashing colours, crude layering and dead fish. But it [...]

Recycled art is a tricky thing to do well. It's hard to turn what most consider trash into treasure. OOO My Design has given it their all with a few different pieces of furniture. Cassettes Not Dead, a nostalgic tribute to now obsolete medium. I do like the fact that you can change the tapes out to your personal ones. But I can't help the fact that when i look at these lamps and chair that I could bust out the same quality myself. Of course I can't.

Classic Suede. Gum Bottoms and mid/outsoles. Well done. Availabale now through Puma retailers such as Size? Props to TSG .
The Mexican government's environmental agency recently unveiled the Mercado de Trueque , a market where recyclable materials and trash can be exchanged for fresh food . "This innovative program is designed to show citizens directly and tangibly how what we call trash becomes raw materials. If solid waste is properly separated, it still has value," writes the Ministry of Environment (in Spanish). The market accepts glass, paper and cardboard, aluminum beverage cans, PET plastic bottles, and returns "green points" redeemable for agricultural products grown in and around Mexico City, including lettuce, prickly pears, spinach, tomatoes, plants, [...]

' Rolling Words ' is a smokable songbook containing Snoop Dogg’s best songs and lyrics, written in a non-toxic ink. Each page of the book is perforated and can be turned into a rolling paper to use in your weed smoking habits. The cover, binding, and internal lining of the book are made from hemp seed paper while the spine serves as a match-striking surface. The entire thing is really just a promotion for Snoop's new line of branded kingsize slim rolling papers. It makes us wonder, though, how in the hell has Snoop Dogg not had his [...]
