Tsurumi Records just knows how to do things right. Spinning on gorgeous marbleized grey and white vinyl right now, is the latest long player from Tsurumi's The Second Academy with main man Eric Balaban and his latest masterpiece of sophistico-garage punk, Bohemian Grove . But before we get to the music (which will make me quickly forget everything else I want to say) let's get back to Tsurumi. In a very short period of time, the good folk of Tsurumi have solidified their vision of how to unleash quality music and product onto the [...]

Just noticed that BLEEDIN OUT hit it's 4th year anniversary. 300,000 hits over that period. Not bad. Considering that I started this thang to exorcise; and quite often, exercise my demons; it's been a long strange trip. Or something. 4 years of (as someone once so aptly described it) of 1/3 music, 1/3 bitching about the government and 1/3 whining about my life. On the bright side, I've cyber-met some great people. I've also been able to write... which back in college was supposed to be my vocation. And, I have [...]

Finally... Paste reported today that Color Me Obsessed , a fan-based documentary of The Replacements is finally coming out. Of the movie, director Gorman Bechard said, "I decided to present the band in a more iconic way. I thought, people believe in God without seeing or hearing him but rather through the passion, faith, and stories of others. After watching Color Me Obsessed, I'm pretty sure music fans will believe in The Replacements in much the same way." I'm a huge Mats fan and even that's a little strong for me. But [...]

A new documentary focusing on The Replacements is starting to make its rounds throughout the festival circuit and the like in the U.S. The film, titled Color Me Obsessed , was directed by Gorman Bechard, and focuses on the legacy of the Twin City post-punks through the eyes and words of both their well-known and lesser-known fans. According to Pitchfork , the film will include The Decemberists' Colin Meloy, [...]

This post comes from longtime 9B reader, Chris Green and really expands upon the Covers EP that Two Cow released yesterday. In his words, "When I saw the announcement, I really wanted to help out my favorite band more than $5 worth, and make sure this cool project was a success, so I offered an extra-nice donation that I wanted to keep anonymous, and they picked the 3rd bonus song from my list of suggestions." Ninebullets.net faves Two Cow Garage have just completed their covers [...]
The goal was simple: Find a way to offset the upfront costs of going on tour overseas. The idea was crowdsourcing genius: Take a poll of what songs their fans would like to hear the band cover. Record the two that get the most votes and put them out as a limited EP. The result: A three track EP that is only available for two weeks (ending 03.14.11) for a minimum donation of 5 dollars.
