With their Chop Shop Records debut EP, The Republic Tigers have arrived with an impressive breadth of vision that instantly marks them as something unique. With a sound that the band describe as "half organic and half synthetic, kind of like how all our lives are now," they have created a pastoral, yet modern sound. Being signed to a label started by a television music supervisor might make it difficult for a band to break amongst the notoriously snobbish blogger set. After all, this particular music supervisor - Alexandra Patsavas - made her bones on shows like Roswell & Grey's Anatomy. And don't you know, with our noses so high in the air we bloggers can't watch TV. Lucky for The Republic Tigers , their ear pleasing blend of electronica & traditional sounds should be more than enough to win us over. They've only released one EP so far, [...]

The Republic Tigers out of Missouri are out with a self-titled EP (click for iTunes link ) full of sweetness that will make you call up your dentist to check for cavities. It's airy and full of the promise your mom can't give you about the future of music. True story. If you want a small sample, they're gracious enough to give out one of their songs. The Republic Tigers - " Buildings and Mountains " They'll be at SXSW , and I might fight someone if I don't get to see them.

When Alexandra Patsavas , music TV and film supervisor extraordinaire (Grey's Anatomy, The OC, Roswell, etc) told me about her new record label, Chop Shop Records , I could only imagine what kind of band she'd first sign to her label. No doubt, she's got impeccable taste. So it comes as no suprise that she's signed The Republic Tigers , an elegant modern sounding "some-wave" group of youngsters from Kansas City. "Some-wave" meaning a hybrid of the waves both old and new in that the [...]
I suppose if I'm honest much of what appears here has little or no chance of making it with a broad audience. Just the way of the world unfortunately but the same cannot be said about 'Made Concrete' which comes from the recently signed Republic Tigers (Chop Shop Records, set up by Alex Patsavas who put the O.C. and Grey's Anatomy soundtracks together, aha). This is just begging for an advert to

Match the names of these brilliant up and coming bands to the correct songs... Easy? What's all this about? They say you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover (maybe you shouldn't judge Lethal Weapon by Danny Glover), but still we frequently look over bands just because the name conjures up thoughts of something you wouldn't associate yourself with liking. Right? Especially in the case of the internet when your first contact with a band is usually when you first read their name, it can become difficult to find good bands. With [...]
The following track comes from Kansas City band American Catastrophe's upcoming release, Excerpts From the Broken Bone Choir, and it's fairly representative of what the record is all about. Dark, haunting, and sparse, the song rumbles along beneath lyrics concerned with deeds equally shadowy. It's difficult not to make comparisons to other great American gothic artists such as Nick Cave, 16

The Republic Tigers are an experimental indie pop band from Kansas City, Missouri. Mixing electronic sounds and 70's style vocal harmonies, one could easily mistake them for America meets the Helio Sequence (or maybe Engineers meets the Postal Service?) They are unsigned as of yet, but keep an eye out for these guys - they're only a couple breaks away from getting huge! I don't know about you folks, but sleep hasn't been a priority lately. You'd think that summer would yield those nice 11 hour shifts of rapid eye movement, but when you're a Fort Worth socialite like me (ha), you don't get the shuteye you require. So, here's a nice not-quite-soporific, yet certainly soothing track by The Republic Tigers, signed to the fledgling OxBlood Records (with label-mates

The Republic Tigers are my current favorite band hands down. Holly introduced me to them after seeing them open for her brother's band Shhh , which is a great band itself. She threw some of their songs my way and I couldn't get enough of them. First of all, right off the bat you realize that all six of them can sing better than most lead singers out there, and their harmonies are the best I've heard in a long while. Of course, I can't say I've even heard a band quite like Republic Tigers. The singing is somewhat [...]
