Where to begin? Chris had called me wondering if I wanted to fill the fourth seat in the car for their trip to Wisconsin and after all but a minute of thinking, I agreed to go. I'd yet to really get to know Chris and his roommate, so I didn't know exactly how it would go down. Well, the trip ended up being a blast and far surpassed any of our expectations. We spent 20+ hours on the road traveling there and back, and took turns playing music throughout the trips. As with any group of people, the music tastes [...]
It's Kate - not Joe, not Jason. Though they both rock my world for posting. Doesn't this music video remind you, just a tiny bit, of something? I'm thinking Hanson. Yeah, the comparison is pretty shaky, but it's what came to mind. Maybe it's the sappy-but-awesome factor. Maybe it's because Bryce Avery is hot. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for power pop. Who knows? [...]

Bryce Avary, better known as The Rocket Summer, has put out his first album on Island Records , Do You Feel , and it is absolutely phenomenal. That's the word I've been using ever since I heard the first song off the album yesterday. I'm a big fan of Avary's dance punk style, and this album is the best he's put forth thus far. Of course it helps having Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jack's Mannequin) produce the album. But that aside, this album is really well done. [...]

The Rocket Summer – Do You Feel The Rocket Summer is a power pop-rock band from Colleyville , Texas , comprised solely of Bryce Avary who plays all instruments and sings. "Do You Feel" is Avary's third full length release and doesn't stray from his typical girl-oriented optimistic rock. Although the lyrical content in some songs seems to offer too much of the same thing "Do You Feel" offers incredible instrumental back-up. Avary branches out into a few new instruments to create an awesomely huge sound for many of [...]

I've posted about a bunch of musicians as of late who have been recording entire albums by themselves under a moniker. The One AM Radio and Loney, Dear are a couple of the ones that I've talked about recently, and today is another in the same line: The Rocket Summer. The guy behind the project is Bryce Avary, who's been at this since the age of 14, having recorded his first EP in 1999, a year or so later. Since then, he has recorded 2 full length albums and toured near consistently with bands, big and small. [...]
Tomorrow I'll be packing all my things and closing the door to 3837 Lampl Ave for the last time and it makes me sad. Right now, I'm sitting amidst a room full of things piled about on every surface, the huge deconstruction before re-assembly into small boxes that represent my earthly possessions. I'm going to miss this place. We had some pretty amazing memories here. Listen: Hayden - All In One Move Ben Kweller - I Gotta Move The Rocket Summer - Move to the Other Side of [...]
