Love was in the air December 8th at Glasslands in Brooklyn. A bunch of amazing bands came together to put on a tribute to the beautiful life of John Lennon, including Amazing Baby, Here We Go Magic, Nicole Atkins, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, Class Actress, Acrylics, Teen, The Royal Chains, Eytan & The Embassy, Bizi [...]

One fine day I came home from work to find that my mother had turned off our interwebs. Brief interludes at the local library just were not enough to sustain my Facebook Generation self. So here I am at my pseudo-sister's house crashing on her couch and stealing her neighbor's internet. Yeah, she doesn't have her own, either. At least it's cooler than sitting in my car at the end of my country driveway stealing MY neighbor's internet. Oops. The blogosphere likes the Ting Tings. I like the Ting Tings. So does the cool [...]
UPDATES: The Royal Chains - Pop - Nashville, TN/New York, NY The Royal Chains were previously featured on A Future in Noise with Umbrella in May 2009 (which I had said combined "the best of tuneful pop of days gone by with a surprisingly raw edginess") and their single "Wolf" in October 2009 . "Wolf" features on the Bear Island EP (free for download and listening [...]

Sorry for the hiatus. Life got a bit hectic the last couple weeks, and since I'm pretty much navigating this ship solo (alas!) it doesn't take much for it to veer off course. Queue The Royal Chains. I pulled this out of the latest stack of mail at random and the lack of effort and forethought paid off. They're just a couple boys from Nashville via Brooklyn, Dan on guitar and Adam on drums and vocals, who describe their musical MO in the third person this way, "They write pop songs that are probably more rock. They write rock songs [...]
*UPDATE* The Royal Chains ( Issue # 10 ) - Pop / Rock - New York, USA Featured some months ago in regards to their free album Umbrella , the Royal Chains have a fabulous new single out: "Wolf" . The sound is noticeably cleaner and more focused than that heard on their debut album (though I do love that for it's grittiness too), summery and catchy as ever! --- [...]

Another round of fab independent musicians in this continuing series , with 3 of them being from New York this time around...suggest your favourites in the comments! The Royal Chains - Pop / Rock - New York, USA The Royal Chains are a 3-piece group (Adam Roddick: singer/guitarist, Dan Lawley: bassist, and Mike Stefanov: drummer) based in New York that combine the best of tuneful pop of days gone by with a surpris ingly [...]

THE PLAYLIST THAT BRINGS INNER PEACE... Since day one (incidentally, that was very nearly a year ago now folks!) Winston's Zen intention has always been to share the music that puts a swagger in my step or soothes my soul, to attempt in some way to pass on that moment when a tune grabs your attention, holds it tight and changes your day in some little way. And if, whilst sprinkling a little sonic goodness across cyberspace, I can shine a light on one or two [...]
I've got three local artists up my sleeve that I think the world should be listening to in '08 and today I bring you the first- NYC based boys The Royal Chains have blessed Resonator with some fresh-out-of-the-studio tracks from their forthcoming EP. The Chains craft bittersweet love songs from 60's melodic pop sensibilities and au currant angst and neuroses. Guitarists and song-writers Adam Roddick and Ivan Malfa-Kowalski are the Davies brothers of the 21st century. Malfa-Kowalski's Rickenbacker riffs are pure British Invasion while Roddick's rhythm borrows heavily from early 90's grunge, making for songs that are [...]
