The Ruby Suns are a band from Auckland, New Zealand. This is not debatable. What is debatable: how to class their sound. Is it tribal? Is it dance? Is it throwback? Sea Lion, the name of the latest album from The Ruby Suns is inspired by a sea lion colony visible from Hwy 1, south of San Francisco. I figured this was a neat little tid-bit of information considering the band is based out of New Zealand. A couple of years ago, I decided to cover my old nylon string guitar in stickers. Among the free stickers I managed to pick up at record stores and concerts was one promoting the New Zealand electro pop outfit the Ruby Suns .
