Die wundervolle Radiostation WOXY hatte sich für die Zeit des SXSW eine Lounge gemietet und die crème der anwesenden Bands zu entspannten Sessions und kurzen Interviews geladen: The Early Tapes, Pompeii, She, Sir, Peel, The Lemurs, Via Audio, The Little Ones, Sara Culler, Age Rings, 120 Days, Land Of Talk, Snowden, Winterpills, Calla, The Rumble Strips, Stelldichein . Eine Liste, die sich gut liest, und noch besser anhört. Hier nur ein Beispiel: MP3: 120 days / Session @ Woxy.com Technorati Tags: The Early Tapes [...]

Point your finger to the future and peer into the crystal ball and uncover what the musicscene will be like in 2007 - or something. Metacritic has compiled that long releaselist with bands. Quite some interessting ones there. But also much bands as Arcade Fire, Of Montreal, The Shins, etc. etc. These bands always gain lots of bloghype, so we don't wanna add to much there. BBC has done the crystal ball thingy and put their money on ten new bands to watch in 2007. Some of these already has a blogosphere folilowing and [...]

Thanks to old buddy and Anglophile Mark for mentioning this song by the Rumble Strips, a UK band. Currently, they're in L.A. making a debut album with Tony Hoffer, known for his work with Beck, The Kooks, and Air. The Rumble Strips : Motorcycle (mp3) - Check out their releases so far (a couple singles and an EP). Their Official Site | MySpace - check out "Alarm Clock" on their MySpace page too. Good stuff!
Good old auntie (the BBC for those not from the UK) have released their top ten list of bands and artists to watch in 2007. This is my take on their pickings: 10. The Rumble Strips [MySpace] It is about time these guys get huge! I first saw their promo video for Motorcycle at the end of [...]

A shorter one today. Two bands. Who used to be one. Sort of. Anyway, the story centres round two blokes. Vincent Vincent (who I think is really called Mark) and Charlie Waller. They used to both play together in East London band Vincent Vincent and the Villains (above), who are often described as rockabilly, but are really more of indie band with a particular interest in 50s rock 'n' roll. Not just the sound either, which they do very well. They look quite the part too. VV&TV have [...]

Here are the songs (or maybe that should be 'tracks') then. I've laboured (intermittently) long and hard over these, because it's pretty impossible to choose 20 songs from so many great ones this year. I've restricted myself to tunes that have been given an official UK release inthis year. The thing is, these probably aren't even my best tracks of the year, but they have meant something to me over the past 12 months. I'm sure that if you ask me next month, I'll have a slightly different list, but for now, here's my song-record of 2006. [...]
I love this junk shop glam rock discotheque... We will really miss our regular gig at the Chain Drive -- including our ability to play everything from Herb Alpert to The Stranglers to Luxxury to Marlene Dietrich and whatever else strikes our fancy. Strike this item off that list of things to do before we die: We had a dj residency at a leather bar. And I think they loved us -- we sure loved them. Thanks, guys! Here's the setlists, complete with links to songs we may have written about/posted in the past. Because we're nice like that. [...]
The Rumble Strips have posted two new songs over at their site...sweet sounds of ska influenced music there... Rumble Strips - 4 walls Rumble Strips - My Oh My It's amazing how easily I influenced by those horns...ska runs deep in these veins. Their site is being revamped, so head over to their myspace page for more [...]
Polytechnic, "Won't You Come Around?" - A year or so later, here's the one immutable thing about Clap Your Hands Say Yeah: by this point, I don't think even the old guard of the Shoegaze and Spiderland Marching And Chowder Society can deny the fact that they're notable if only on the basis of how quickly they carved out a name for themselves as a category of modern music - by this point, you can pretty much go up to anyone with even a passing familiarity with 'Forkery and start talking about "that new band [...]
