Vancouver is not a sunny place. It rains seven months of the year and is cloudy the other five. Perhaps because of this, much of the music produced in the city is often dark, heavy, or depressing... or at least it seems that way. This vibraphone belongs to John Vanderslice Hylozoists don't score films, but they should. Their debut, La Fin Du Monde , is a fluttering jumble of Jon Brion I Heart Huckabees flourishes and rhythmic Morricone-isms, horn squelches and woozy vibraphones.
