And it begins...a week of some really dynamite shows throughout the region. DC is the place to be on this chilly Monday night. Where you ask? Well the 9:30 Club has the mighty mighty Mos Def - nuff said. That's where you should be. Buuut...maybe you'd be interested in Obi Best and Shapiro over at DC9 or perhaps even the Sam Roberts Band and Mother Mother at the Rock and Roll Hotel . Up north in the Phill-city and sweet show at Kungfu Necktie is blazing tonight with Pomegranates, Mercury Radio Theater, and Western Dresses. [...]
As we've previously mentioned, Sam Roberts Band are sort of a big deal north of the border - having racked up Juno awards, top selling albums as well as scoring the number one song on the R3-30 indie chart. While they may not have caught on in the States just yet, the band does have a knack for combining jangly guitar rock with big pop hooks that is undeniably catchy. The Canadian rockers latest album Love At The End Of The World - which has been [...]

Looks like the art of the cover song may not just be a jamband thing anymore. The show will serve as the closing party for the Wexner Center For The Arts' Andy Warhol exhibition - Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms in the band's hometown of Columbus, OH. If you're like me and live no where near Columbus than maybe [...]
W hen did Chicago become the summer music festival capital of the world? First Pitchfork , then Warped Tour , and finally Lollapalooza . That is a lot of music to my ears. Coupled with all the individual street festivals, the Taste of Chicago, and you might as well spend you entire summer vacation here. So here is another round of MP3 previews from Lollapalooza 2007. I'll see you tomorrow at Warped Tour. In the meantime, check out all our previous Lollapalooza MP3 previews. Part one [...]
Philly southern-y roots rockers Pawnshop Roses performed bright and early today on ABC's Good Morning America. Apparently, their videotaped set at Grape Street Pub in August won them "Best Live Perfromance" in some zany let's-get-middle-america-hip-t o-YouTube cross-promotional contest nonsense. The band also won a whole new set of equipment for Philly band thieves to relieve them of. Meanwhile, a press release on the subject is spouting some line about "millions of votes", but the 'Tube don't lie, holmes. It currenty lists total views at 3,375. By this metric, our Garden State Tip Drill deserves to have been featured on national television [...]
We would like to introduce you to The Sam Roberts Band . When we kicked back, threw on the headphones, and listened to this artist we thought "Natural talent diluted by an obese, greedy curmudgeon" What did you think? Use a tag or comment to share your thoughts with everyone. Enjoy. Genre: Rock-Pop-Folk Label: Universal Source: Pocket|Trax [...]
