The Pains of Being Pure at Heart [...]

So, The Samuel Jackson Five 's highly anticipated album, Goodbye Melody Mountain , has been out a couple of days now and has been on repeat in my playlist since. A month ago, SJ5 actually announced the completion and provided us with some fun minor details about each track, but I still wasn't sure what to expect from this album. It was mentioned that they wanted to incorporate some vocals into their repertoire; for me personally, it was hard to imagine it with their upbeat funk/jazz style. So yeah, I was half-expecting vocals, but wasn't surprised when I [...]

The Samuel Jackson Five are an indie band from Norway, having to date released two albums, Same Same, But Different (2004) and Easily Misunderstood (2005). They started as a failed d&b project, entering the post-rock genre, having continued to caress my soul with such beautiful music. And they get 2037038 bonus points for having such an awesome band name and awesome track titles. Hmm…how would I describe their music? Definitely a fusion of post-rock and jazz. You'll find this fusion is more apparent in Same Same, But Different than it is [...]
Time to kick this thing into life again. Clear. Last week I was supposed to see the band Bonk live, but they cancelled their show. They have one of the best songs ever in ' Sarah '. I just love everything about it. Don't know how to describe in a just fashion, I just know that you need to hear this song. Bonk - Sarah Clear. When I was in Russia I [...]

The Samuel Jackson Five are a 5 piece from Oslo, Norway. They play instrumental indie rock. It's tough to pin down influences, but it's easy to say it's alternatingly pretty and rockingly hard. It's quite good, pretty active and lots of changes and layering to keep it going. Sort of a jazz approach to post-rock. Check it out! Summer is almost over and here's a couple of new tracks that will give you a feeling of being in the middle of two seasons. Some of these tracks are the ultimate summer soundtracks and some are pure autumn... and they are all norwegian! First out is a autumny pop-track by Dino-Sau (a wordplay on dinosaur and Sau (norwegian for sheep)). The trio is said to be an experience in a live-setting. I
