There appears to be a shift somewhat with tighter song structures and less instrument swapping on stage, which are all improvements in my opinion. So I jumped on fasterlouder.com.au and searched for this band called the Seabells (the comp was to win a spot on the Australian V Festival lineup) and I couldn't find them. Wow. I don't think any other word could more accurately describe the experience of seeing The Seabellies. Hailing from Newcastle, this 6 piece has hopped on van (or two) and has been taking Sydney by storm. Playing a number of shows across town, they've been quickly transformed from relatively unknown to the next big thing. Recents shows include a battle of the bands comp where they trounced their opposition to earn themselves a spot at the V Festival. They even looked comfortable when they took to Richard Branson's oversized stage proving they've got the ability to go all the way. [...]
The Seabellies are from Newcastle, and are the NSW state finalists for Garage to V comp, which has been taking place around the country over the last few weeks. The finals are on tonight at Sydney's Gaelic Club, and they will be battling it out with Ouch! My Face! (Melbourne), The Government (Perth), The Butcher Birds (Brisbane).
