After taking its sweet time last year, summer has struck back with a vengeance. At least here in the midwest, 90+ degree temperatures and clear, sunny skies are quickly becoming the norm. Of course, with the changing of the seasons not only comes trips to the beach and increased slushie sales but exuberant, feel-good summer jams. Some of my all time favorite meals are made with garbanzo beans. I thought, through years and years of practice, I had perfected them all. Hummus, chickpeas and spinach, falafel, chickpea stew, you name it and I probably boasted my expertise hard. But last week I realized that I had been a fool. These meals could get better. By using a pressure cooker. Despite railing against such wasteful kitchen gadgetry , I went out of my way to make the Smashed Chickpea and Avocado Sandwich (that was recommended by my friend Becca) [...]

From beginning to end, Little Mountain is a rad 15 tracks of new music.

As major labels continue to exist behind the times, artists and labels with little capital and lesser reputations are producing some of the most innovative, interesting, and inspiring music. Whether it's creating a new niche in digital technology or looking to once obsolete formats, Agitated Atmosphere hopes to pull back the curtain on a wealth of sights and sound from luminaries such as Chris Weisman . Like the seasons, Chris Weisman returns to AA one year after our last review of his work as if playing the part of a sympathetic [...]

Ships Piano are four dudes from St Kilda doing some seriously good punk stuff. That said, the track below, Seasons #2, sounds more 902s indie than anything else. This song has been in my head ever since I discovered it a few days ago. It is catchy as fuck. Ships Piano - Seasons #2 Miks

With each passing season, the music of psych-rock quintet Seasons gets more transcendent. That they're scarcely a blip on anyone's radar outside the insular Los Angeles Eastside scene is a curiosity, if not a downright crime — their beautifully arranged, cinematic rock and its arching sense of yearning seem part of the fabric of the times. And there are bands with label deals and promotional teams who can't touch Seasons. That said, here's what Seasons are doing for us lately: They're releasing a new EP, "Autumn," which completes the cycle they started with "Summer," "Spring" and "Winter." Like two [...]

Here is a great visual reminder by vimeo user Giovanni "Gio" Aloi ! He did a fan video for Welcome Back Sailors ' dreamy chillwave song " Season ", taken from the Yes/Sun LP, released in July. I completely forgot about grabbin' this record back in the summer, so thanks to him for uploading his fan video. Head over to Bandcamp and buy Yes/Sun, if you haven't done it already. Footage is taken from Home Movie: On the Set of Philippe Garrel's 'Le lit de la vierge' , starring adorable [...]

It's a well known fact that as the days get shorter, the nights colder, and the weather bleaker, our mood adapts to fit the winter climate. With the change of mood comes different listening habits, as recently shown in our article on favourite autumn records. So, it's a shame that The Juliets new LP Perfect Season comes in the least perfect season for a summery indie pop record, but despite this unfortunate setback it remains a catchy album sure to brighten many a day in the coming winter months. Album [...]
