The time has come to ramp up training for the STP (Seattle to Portland bike ride). Last weekend, I took a ride out toward La Conner along my normal route, which takes me down McLean. This particular road is on the path toward the famous Skagit Valley Tulips, and being in the middle of the Tulip Festival, traffic was anything but light. It's satisfying, passing a line of 30+ cars, stopped due to heavy traffic. You don't get that much in the country. On with the music... Receiving the [...]

Stuarto and I talked a lot just before my show began and in the minutes after it started about the radio station he's been building at his house. He's dubbing it 1020Radio, and you can check out the (right now) super minimalist site he's running over at 1020Radio.net . You can also find it on Facebook . It's been a long time coming; the station is nearing completion and just about to hit the Internets. All goes well, and time permitting, [...]

Revelling in one day's plenty while trying not to drown in it, a quick & dirty acknowledgement of thrilling new music from five distinct, diverting voices - Chris Herbert , talkingmakesnosense , Seaworthy , Tone Color & Dentist . Second & last in this list have not featured on LMYE before, but will again... [...]
Pollen Trio marks a rewarding point of collision or, er, cross-pollination between two Australian lineages that LMYE (this half, anyway...) is deeply invested in - the extraordinary post-jazz trio tradition of The Necks , Triosk & 3ofmillions meeting the broader experimental church of Shoeb Ahmad 's hellosQuare (our neglected label of 2010 ) & Ahmad/ Evan Dorrian ( PT)'s Spartak . [...]

Set sail into a Seaworthy quartet - four contrasting tastes of Cam Webb's always-beguiling & increasingly location-rich (see his Environmental Sounds blog with Two Lakes partner Matt Rösner ) 'project', for want of a better word. Some of the contrast comes from Webb's relentless collaboration, clearly - besides Rösner , the pieces & streams here also feature post-jazzers Pollen Trio (the new Triosk ?) [...]

Led by Pimmon 's scintillating On the Other Hand this Carbon Fire is (Flammable ) & following yesterday's post on Sound&Fury (& the day before's Machinefabriek -guided stops by Tim Catlin & Adrian Klumpes ), a quick overview of some of our other Australian enthusiasms & passions - besides The Necks , of course... Streams of much of the outstanding Verona (Low Point) by [...]
If you were to open the dictionary at "unassuming" it could do worse than refer you to Low Point records. Everything about the label screams understatement. If you can scream understatement. Which you probably can't. Everything from the name, to the simple, stark photography which adorns these records, to the modest price (these will set [...]
As you can probably tell from the preceding posts, I've been overdosing on a certain musical form somewhat over the last couple of weeks. Well, you know what it is like with minimalist dealers - you may go to them only looking for an eighth of Eno, but before you know it you have [...]

Some releases you may or may not have heard of coming out tomorrow:* Maria Taylor - LadyLuck. Buy. This wunderkind, of the former Azure Ray, as well as Now It's Overhead is bringing more of that sweet, edgy pop in the solo form. A voice full of power, a heart full of gold, nothing not to like here. She has the ability to stretch her voice without straining, making a jealous fool of many. Taylor adds an orchestral feel to this as well, as evidenced on "Time Lapse Lifeline." For [...]
![The Seaworthies: Flies On The Wall [Video]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1370404_lg.jpg)
Written by Fense It's been a while since I've written anything about The Seaworthies. I've known about the band for some time and I've more than appreciated the music they've made all these years, even when they were known by the moniker Moon Turn The Tides. So, what prompted this new little feature? No, unfortunately there are no new tunes out there, and I'm not really sure if there are plans for any new tunes in the near future. So why am I writing about [...]

Sometimes it nice to take in a show without any idea or preconception what the music you are about to hear will sound like. So I was intrigued to go along to The Stone Gallery thursday night and see what musical journey I would go on. Firstly the venue, a 19th Century stone church provided a great setting, different from the usual beer hall that's for sure. Holding roughly 150 people, the event started at 7.30 with Sydney trio Seaworthy up first. They provided a beautiful sound scape with slow, sparse songs full of ebb and [...]
