The Sharp Ease burned brightly and went away too quickly. They released a batch of memorable art-punk in 2006 — memorable, I say, because I'm always asked about "Remain Instant" when it comes up in indie-rock DJ sets — and went loudly into the night in 2007 with a show at the Smell, recounted here . Now, more than four years after the Paloma Parfrey, Dana Barenfeld, Christene Kings, Aaron Friscia and Anika Stephen called it quits, director Christopher Lopez has released his video for the song "LA Mist." Posthumous release, yes, but memories this strong never [...]

The last we caught up with our beloved Sharp Ease, we vowed to never miss a show again. A couple of years and many broken promises later, the band quite sadly ended their run at The Smell on Saturday in front of an adoring capacity crowd. We normally don't get too emotional over band breakups, farewell concerts, or anything for that matter, but somewhere around the middle of "Remain Instant"

The blog Raven Sings The Blues has posted a couple of tracks by The Sharp Ease ... here . Downloadables: "Patio Chair" "Going Modern" Myspace page is here . BONUS: "Peoplewich" (mp3) Please Note: This mp3 will be available for a limited time only.

I caught wind of this band after reading an interview with them in the recent issue of Arthur Magazine . The Sharp Ease have been tearing it up around L.A. for a while now but it seems that they are sorely underappreciated outside of their native city. Running in the same vein as Love Is All only much more consistent, they bang out energetic, political riot grrrlesque pop anchored by the powerful and pleasing vocals of singer Paloma Parfry. Their album "Going Modern" was released last year and again I'm amazed I haven't heard about this until now. [...]

[mp3] Remain Instant (Remain Instant EP, 2006) Going Green [...]
