[ Ostgut Ton ] René Pawlowitz is a very prolific man, but it tends to feel like he'll release a handful of records in quick succession and then step out of the limelight for awhile. Luckily, we're in the middle of a bountiful harvest of Pawlowitzian music, as he released the killer fifth Equalized a couple months ago, a Shed 123 in February, and now a 123 for Ostgut Ton [...]

Listed in Hardwax as Obscure Techno bomb, err well it is exactly that. Some people saying its the new shed but I'm not 100% convinced yet, still tho amazing melodic techno that doesn't melt your head ;)
Dj Charts: Laura Jones - Beatport New & Old Chart. genre: House, Tech House, Electronica, Techno, Deep House

[ 50 Weapons ] When LWE interviewed René Pawlowitz towards the end of 2010, he expressed disdain not only for the current state of techno, but for the ménage à trois arrangement it had found with dubstep and house. "Some dubstep guys can't make techno music.... The same way when house producers want to make dubstep, it's impossible," he proclaimed. It was - and continues to be - [...]

EQUALIZED, 2011 // 123 / BUY: VINYL The fifth twelve in René Pawlowitz 's (a.k.a. Shed, Wax, etc.) 'anonymous' Equalized series doesn't disappoint. Pressed on hand-stamped black vinyl and housed in generic white inner sleeve the #005 offers two uncompromising techno transmissions that have Shed written all over it. The A side cut packs some heavy industrial-edged beats, whilst the B side is a big room banger of epic proportions that needs to be heard on a big system in order to be fully appreciated. I heard it for the [...]
I've been stuck in a The War on Drugs soundtracked coma since they tore my mind to shreds in August and that means if you mention them in the subject of any emails addressed to me there's a 99.99% open rate. Someone hit the spot today and I thought that you should all take notice of this awesome "semi acoustic" session filmed in Copenhagen. Check out the videos for two of my favorite cuts off of Slave Ambient "Brothers" and "Best Night" and then go and listen to them for the rest of the night. Enjoy!

Chart courtesy of The Economist 01. Creative Swing Alliance, "In Love" [ City Fly Records ] ( buy ) Having been repped twice by Danilo Plessow - first with a side on the well loved MCDE 1206-07 doublepack, then with a spot on his DJ-Kicks CD - one can easily guess there's something compelling about Creative Swing Alliance. It's not that they've brought much new to deeply inclined house music; in fact, many of [...]
Rite of Passage / Mediaskare Records is proud to announce the addition of Los Angeles, CA based band THE SHEDS to its roster of artists. The band, which features brothers Mac, Evan, and Morgan Miller along with drummer Mark Blaker, formed in 2005 as a way for the brothers to play cover songs for fun. [...]

Chart courtesy of The Economist 01. Kevin Reynolds, "Liaisons" [Nysde Music] ( buy ) Listening to Liaisons , the newest record from Kevin Reynolds, it's somewhat difficult to believe this is the same Detroit producer who put out Favis earlier this year. Not only is it a far leap from the loose, organically flavored style of his previous work, it's a huge jump in quality as well. The title track sounds like [...]

From Cropped Out's Facebook : Cropped Out aims to celebrate a select fistful of contemporary musicians, artists, and artisans whom we feel reflect a greater undercurrent of sonic, visual, and conceptual exploration. It is our intention to turn heads toward the talents of those often omitted, overlooked, or cropped out of "the big picture." These are the minds most interesting to us, the minds most capable of emerging from and quickly returning to their lightlessness, if only to be briefly met by a niche appreciation. Cropped Out KY: Cropped Out is a locally [...]

Illustration by Dreampaint [ Dolly ] Stuart Li's work as Basic Soul Unit is remarkably consistent, though occasionally predictable as well. Soulspeak , his first 123 for Steffi's Dolly imprint, skirts most threats of sameness. Li utilizes a lot of classic tropes, but he underlines these with dynamic structural gestures. He's becoming extremely proficient at laying mesmerizing atmospherics on [...]
MUSIC NEWS - Pink Floyd star David Gilmour has been ordered to pull down his bright yellow beach hut in East Sussex, England, because local government officials have said it's an eyesore. The rocker uses the storage shed, which is at the end of his driveway at his seafront mansion in Hove, to store his bicycles. Gilmour and his wife, writer Polly Samson, had appealed against the council's request to have the building destroyed, but officials are now demanding the musician take the hut down or face prosecution. [...]

Due a release anytime soon on When In Doubt , 2562 follows up his amazing debut album "Fever" with what's being called an addendum. Limited test presses available at the When In Doubt shop now.

So Radiohead have been noted to be quite into their electronic music, as you can see from their frequently updated office charts . As someone who doesn't froth at the mouth at the mention of the name Thom, this did not really interest me. However, what I failed to notice, is that every week they would be putting out remix singles. If you haven't figured it out yet, an awesome taste in artists and an unlimited choice of them means a multitude of great artists are now putting out remixes of Radiohead's latest album. Four Tet, Ramadaman, Caribou, Shed and Objekt are [...]

Berghain, the Berlin-based night club (housed in a building once home to a power plant) has released its newest installment of 'sampler' tracks via Ostgut Ton- the club's main distributivity outlet for the artists who play there. The sheer cavernous size of the club hints at the influence the space has had on the sounds of the featured musicians, who often create huge amounts of spacial diversity within their work. Ostgut's sound is quite industrial; some of the major artists who have produced for the label include Shed and Peter Van Hoesen , [...]

Photo by Appuru Pai [Kawl] It's rather uncommon for a popular, well respected producer not to have a legion of imitators following their every move. René Pawlowitz, whether as Shed, Wax, Equalized or STP, is one of few in recent memory to manage this feat, in part because most of his various styles are damned difficult to replicate. Although I would stop short of calling Lee Holman an imitator, [...]
The fourth set of remixed tracks from Radiohead 's The King of Limbs album has dropped from the skies. In this group, Give Up The Ghost is remixed by Thriller , Codex is remixed by Illum Sphere and Little By Little by Shed. Per the usual, I have no idea who these remixing artists are, but nonetheless I enjoyed this group, particularly Little By Little. Check out the songs above:
