If any of you followed me over to Atomic Ned from my old site, Swizzle-Stick , you'll know that I was a big fan of both the Ultimate Fakebook and The Sheila Divine and, in fact, interviewed both bands numerous times. So how cool is this? The Ultimate Fakebook played a rare reunion show for Halloween and belted out a cover of The Sheila Divine's monster hit (to me anyway), "Hum". Enjoy!

New Music this Week ! Someone You Should Know The Sheila Divine - We Are An Island New ! Released Friday 12/3/10 The Sheila Divine Download / My / Fb / [...]

The Fatal Flaw seemed to relish the challenge of competing with the Bruins in a steadily filling bar. The first in a killer triple bill of Boston bands culminating in the revived Sheila Divine, The Fatal Flaw proclaimed themselves just happy to be there. After their first song, Joel Reader remarked, "And that's kind of what we sound like," and you took his point. The Flaw mines a narrow but rich seam of thrumming, brightly-colored pop, shot through with a silvery snide streak somewhere between spunk and Springsteen. Their greatest asset is caveman drummer Jason Seaver and his abusive [...]

I noticed I've been neglecting my One Track Mind feature for a while now. It's probably because I'm a little gun shy about calling any band a one hit wonder. I couldn't believe it when a guy from US3 wrote me to tell me how insulted he was. US3! One hit is better than no hits of course, but it's all relative. I have the same reaction when you see those Time-Life alleged One Hit Wonder compilations and the songs are rolling down the down the screen. All of the sudden...there it is! Steppenwolf? The Young Rascals? The Grass Roots? Doesn't anybody do [...]

THE BEAT GOES ON: By now you know that Chinese Democracy , the GNR album more than a decade in the making, is very much real. And other than a few high points - it's a just a good album ( - and really, little more.) If you recall, the album was leaked online by Antiquet.com and all hell broke loose... (We wrote about it and snagged an unmastered copy of Chinese Democracy online well before the record was released. Then we [...]

In 2003 one of the most enigmatic bands to play a Boston stage called it quits. The end of " The Sheila Divine " broke a number of hearts both here and in Europe where the band was earning a following. For a few special dates over the next week and beyond, the band is back for select dates - providing a few thousand people the opportunity to party like it's 1999! Return of the Sheila Divine From 1997 [...]
One of my favorite rock n' roll superstars, Aaron Perrino , is getting back together with his former bandmates, Shawn Sears and Jim Gilbert, for a two-night Sheila Divine reunion in Boston at the end of the year (Dec.28 and 29). A younger me would have made the trek out east to catch the show but, alas, I'll keep my fingers crossed that audio and/or video from the show makes it online in some fashion early in 2008. If you happen to be in the Boston area, tickets are on sale now for [...]

Thank You Thank You Thank You to John Brazile, Ryan Lee Crosby and Tim Williams and company for making my show last night at the Lilypad a huge success! And thank you all who attended! (You were already treated to a wonderful show - but you deserve a big pat on the back for helping things along.) There was a good turnout and things went very smoothly. I definitely look forward to setting up more shows very soon. If you are in a band and would like to get your music out and [...]
